Dreams Cancun - Contract!!!!

Recommended Posts

rant.gifHi everyone,

i'm looking for some advice from those of you who have been married at Dreams Cancun or are in the process of organizing your wedding!!

Our wedding is in July 2009, I have just recently sent the deposit and filled out the Q & A form for the wedding and have today recieved a copy of our contract.

We have booked the Dreams Ultimate package ($2650) as I thought it included quite a lot in it, I realised that we would probably need to pay extra but the price on the contract has DOUBLED!!!!

We are not having anything fancy, there are 31 guests so need to pay extra for 11 as it only covers 20, fair enough. We said we would like a DJ for evening reception OMG how expensive is that!!! Also you have to pay for the sound system for the ceremony on top of that!! The list goes on and on...

Just to see if everyone is in the same situation?? If so does anyone have any advice as to getting the cost down a bit or negotiate with what's in the package??

Just a bit surprised at the price......

Thanks for the help!!

Louise

Hi Jamie,

We went with the Dreams Ultimate package, it has worked out more expensive for us as there are 31 people going.... the package only includes 20 people therefore you have to pay extra per person for the reception.

We are not going to use the photographer they provide, we've hired Claudia Rodriguez for our day so Gabriela (WC) has gave us the gazebo decoration free as a result which has brought the cost down slightly. I'm going to see what I can do over there too, i'm sure I can get the price down a bit more!

Overall my experience with Dreams and the wedding coordinators have been good and I can't wait to go.... It's just the cost kind of mounts up if you want all the little 'extras' and you have quite a lot of people going!

Just let me know if you want me to send you stuff via e-mail i've got details on the Dreams packages and the additional costs etc....

When you thinking of getting married? Dreams really is beautiful, im sure the cost etc will be well worth it!!

Hey girl....thanks for getting back to me. :-)

I'm still trying to learn how to navigate this site so please bear w/ me....its kinda confusinghuh.gif? lol

I would love to hear about the little extras that you have to pay for? I'm very nervous about those kind of things. We haven't set a date or place yet....prob some time in 2010? Dreams Cancun is breathtaking. I'm very interested but price is everything at this point. I've read that they do not allow outside vendors...Photog's....DJ's to participate in their weddings and you have to use who they provide? I've also heard they are VERY pricy? I guess I would just like a general idea of how much this may cost us? We will prob have 30-40 people as well so ANY info/details you may have would be awesome!!!! If you need my personal email to send stuff its [email protected] Thanks!!! Jamie

Just an FYI, all of the resorts typically have the "little extras" that cost more. They give you basic packages and you can add stuff on from there if you'd like, or just use the package and you don't have other costs.

Things like chair bows, sound system, lights under the tables, etc....those are considered extras.

And yes, Dreams Cancun does allow outside vendors, but you should always check to see if the ones that you choose will be allowed. I think the only time anyone has had a problem, is when it is a lesser known vendor. Most of the popular photographers go there all the time and they have names of DJ's they can give you if that's what you want.

As far as pricy, I guess it depends what you're comparing it to. It is all inclusive so you're going to see a difference right off the bat if you're comparing it to a non all inclusive.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
