Just watched Smart People with Dennis Quaid and SJP in it last night. Terrible. Really slow and boring.....or maybe you just have to be a "smart person" to get the dry humor. Two thumbs down.

Assasination of Jesse James...made it through 1 hour and fell asleep. Very slow....and Brad Pitt couldn't even keep me awake...that is sad sad.gif Two thumbs down on the first hour.....

Prom night is loaded up for tonight....that should be a bit more thrilling! I'll let you know tom.

Great thread!

We typically get movies on demand to avoid the late fees.

Does anyone use the $1 RedBox movies from McDonalds? They have some others with different names at different places (grocery stores, etc)

It's great and you can't beat the price!

With the new shows starting, we haven't rented a movie in a while but I'll respond when we do!

there will be blood was about oil. the single father & his son running around out west. i thought it was a pretty cool story, even though i'm terrible describing it. :) this is from the netflix website:

At the turn of the 20th century, Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis, in an Oscar-winning role) becomes a tycoon when he buys the oil rights to a California family's ranch. Meanwhile, as the simple village becomes a boomtown, a charismatic young preacher (Paul Dano) fights his community's growing greed. Kevin J. O'Connor, Ciarán Hinds and Russell Harvard co-star in writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson's Oscar-nominated adaptation of Upton Sinclair's novel Oil!
ms. pettegrew lives for a day- i really liked it. i'm a huge amy adams fan, so that may be part of the reason. very cute story.

has anyone seen ps i love you? i read the book and loved it, but the movie was awful! i was very disappointed.

as for tonight- i'm watching the new little mermaid movie. yes, seriously, i know...blush2.gifblush2.gif

has anybody seen anything good in the theaters lately? i was thinking going to the movies would be a good date night next week. :)

We recently rented Death at a Funeral, it is a British movie. We haven't seen such a funny movie in a long long time. Check it out, it's a lot of fun!

A dignified send-off for a loved one erupts into uproarious chaos when romance, jealousy, in-laws, hallucinogens, dark secrets, life-long yearnings and a spot of bold blackmail all collide in the irreverent British comedy DEATH AT A FUNERAL

I did hear of this, my sister uses the red box at ACME. I should totally do that, it's cheaper and we're pretty good with returning the movies in time, so we should try this- I think you have to do it the very next day for the red box, no? Not sure. I think Blockbuster has a monthly special too but not positive what it is. We saw a flyer around the month of July but it was a busy month so we decided to wait and just never followed through.

We rent from Red Box all the time. You do only get the movie for one night, you have to bring it back before 9PM the next night. My FI uploads the movies to his ipod (some of the DVDs won't allow you to do that though) then we can watch most of them whenever we want. We have seen a lot of movies this way since we barely get to go to the theatre anymore.

It's also great for when we go to Mexico. We'll have movies to watch on the plane! We just watched 21 not that long ago, and that was really good. We just rented the Vegas one with Cameron Diaz, but haven't watched it yet.

We just watched 'Sometimes in April' and I haven't seen such a good movie like that in awhile. It's about the genocide in Rwanda. It's totally different than Hotel Rwanda in that you actually get background on what sparked the crisis, and understand what went on there. Great acting, moving story, highly recommend!

I just saw "PS I love you "and though I did not read the book it made me cry likie a baby. It was a good chick flick for sure. The books are always better though.

"Eastern Promises" was surprisingly good. Like a Russian mobster movie with suspense and heart. FI made me...

and then I made him watch "Step Up and dance 2" ( i think that's what it's called) I am a sucker for dance movies and this did not disappoint. Very cool moves and an alright story. Those stories about the white girl with a passion for dance a la Julia styles are all the same but I still love em.

Good thread Jacqueline!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
