Beach Ceremony Music?! Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am in desperate need of some advice. For our wedding on the beach in Cancun, I can't figure out what to do for the ceremony music. Since its on the beach, should I do recorded music (which I'm not too excited about), or live music? I would like to do live music if possible, but then there is the problem with the wind on the beach and the sound of the crashing waves drowning out the instruments. And I also have no idea what kind of instruments I would even like. What is everyone else doing who is having a wedding on the beach? I'm thinking either a guitarist, steel drums, harpist, trumpets, a trio of some sort, etc. Would these even be loud enough so our guests could hear? Not quite sure yet what I want the songs to be, but I know I want to walk down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon in D. Does anyone have any musician suggestions in Cancun or the RM area? I've tried searching the forum and unfortunately haven't come up with much for the Cancun/RM area.

Any suggestions would be *greatly* appreciated!!

Hi! I am having a mariachi band play. Their 15 minute break is during the ceremony part. My WC highly recommended the mariachi for a powerful entrance and exit... then they will play while we take some of our pictures- I want to get my pic taken with them in their outfits too:-) It is nice because you don't need any equipment, they are portable:-), it is unexpected so a "wow" factor and my FAV part is I don't have to worry about picking out songs or the right one playing.

If you don't want mariachi they have several duets and trios like spanish guitars, Cuban trio, etc.

Good luck!

Hi,

I am doing the iPod thing and a sound system. Also, I am walking down the aisle to the instrumental version of "Here, There, and Everywhere" by the Beatles. It was the same song that Phoebe had at her wedding during that Friends episode. If you end up have Steel Drumm players, this would be perfect, happy to share the song.

I would recommend any instrumental beachy fun song.

Examples:

Under the Boardwalk, Instrumental

Somewhere over the Rainbow, Hawaiian Version

Beyond the Sea, Instrumental

The Rain Song, Instrumental, Led Zeppelin...sounds weird, but the melody is perfect!

Sea of Love, Flip Phillips

Hello. I have found great wedding music ideas at Wedding Songs Wedding Music MP3 Downloads Sheet Music. The music is composed by The O'Neill Brothers and they have 3 volumes of wedding music. The 3rd volume is called, A Day To Remember, Music for your Beach Wedding. The songs on that CD have many of the instruments you mentioned and it has a great version of Canon in D on it too! These CDs do not sound like recorded music at all. Great Quality and their reviews are fabulous too! All three volumes are in the top ten on Amazon.com. The great thing about their website too is that you can hear clips of every single song found on all three volumes so you know EXACTLY what you are getting! Check them out! You will be happy you did.

Hi Jessica!

We used the Mexican Trio at the Hilton for the ceremony and the cocktail hour and they were great! Everyone loved them. I don't even know what they played ~ I did not want a traditional wedding march. I just asked them to play music that sounded like Mexico. You could definitely hear them, even close to the beach.

For me, I could not see playing recorded music on the beach. Having an outdoor beach wedding is so organic, and I wanted the music to have the same feel.

Good luck!

Courtney,

Hey! So a few questions...(I'm PMing you these too, just in case you don't check this for a while)

What did the "Mexican Trio" consist of?

Did Hilton have special vendor meals so you didn't have to pay full price for them to eat?

Where did you have your cocktail hour?

What is the standard alter/huppah/chupa they use for the ceremony? Did you have to pay extra for this??

What did you use to line your "aisle" on the beach - anything?

Sorry for all the questions but there's still so much I need to figure out! Thanks sooo much!

I love all of the suggestions, thank you for the ideas. I have not even THOUGHT about music but know that I will freak out at the last minute about it because i love to procrastinate :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
