Straight from my local airport to cancun - it's only a new flight but generally you can get direct flights from Manchester and London they just added Newcastle but it looks like they've just cancelled it 2.

I'm just sitting waiting to hear anything and checking the site. I should be at work by now but i'm in bed on my laptop still in my jamas lol I must get moving

hug2.gifTo all the girls that have been crying!! I have been crying on and off for two days and finally made the tough decision last night. I am voluntarily choosing to move my wedding. While I am sure much of what is being reported is sensationalized, I can't take any chances. I'm sure many of you are reading the other threads on the piggy flu and may have seen what I wrote, but I'll repeat. My son had a serious case of RSV and pneumonia at 1 month old and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. Because of that, even now at 4 years old, he has low immunity and is suceptible to everything and gets it much worse than others might. As a mother I just can't take that chance, I would hate myself if anything ever happened to him. The decision to move from the resort and location that I have dreamt about for such a long time was not an easy one but it had to be done. So as of today, I have no idea when and where I will be married. I will hopefully know more tomorrow.

Oh girls ... my heart is hurting for you ... seriously, I'm getting teary just thinking about what you Mexico brides must be feeling. After all the planning, preparing and anticipating ...

Don't give up though! Get on your TA's butts and see what they can do for you - this is YOUR wedding, YOUR day, YOUR celebration and no idiotic media scare swine flu should stop it!!

Airline companies need to compensate as well - usually when a flight is canceled or grounded for any reason they offer alternatives, so there HAS to be an alternative if your airline is refusing to fly to Mexico (for the Canadian and UK girls). You've all paid money, good money, for these destination packages and so have your guests. Regardless of whether or not you paid travel insurance, there HAS to be a way.

Just think: The resorts in Mexico also want your business. Imagine how they're suffering?! They want you down there as badly as you want to go ... I'm sure you're sick of hearing it but try and stay positive my May bride girls ... it will all work out ...

And for all your non-American girls: If you can, see if you can switch your wedding to a Cuban resort! It's not much farther than Mexico and it's GORGEOUS and usually much more affordable.

smile03.gif for you ALL ... I hope your FIs are being supportive and understanding throughout all of this as well ... and know that all your BDWers are here for you always!!!!!

That's just horrible ... I seriously don't know how you, or any of the other May brides are dealing with it all ... I'd be a complete lunatic at this point. I mean, I pretty much am already, but if that bloody pig virus was in Cuba too I'd be having a hairy fit on a daily, no hourly basis.

You're strong than I am, that's for sure!

You said the flight restrictions are being lifted a few days before you leave, right?

A few hours ago I read a news story online that said the infection had "stabilized" in Mexico which should be a good thing ...

We don't know yet thats the problem. They are only saying no flights until the 8th they will extend it if the FO doesn't drop the ban.

knowing my luck they'll make a decision on the 9th when its too late to leave on the 11th lol

Have you considered moving the wedding to DR, Cuba, Jamaica? I'm sure your TA could do something ... there must be plenty of people doing this right now and resorts are probably doing what they can to accommodate ... I know it would suck to change your dream locale ... but if it means having a wedding ... maybe it's a good option to look at!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
