Well that's it ! I have officially packed my first suitcase today ! smile29.gif The suitcase with all the OOT bag stuff, the candles and the disposable cameras is ready !

I also packed another half with the kids clothes (not only the wedding attire - I'm a good auntie with lots of gifts for her nephew and niece that I don't get to see often), and my little beach dresses and reception dresses.

I'm so glad I booked a ticket First to go, and economy to return. In Business first you get 3 free checked bags each, and each can weight up to 70 lb !! Compared to the 1 free, second paying of economy, and limit weight 50 lb... I know people to whom to give the free suitcases when they get back wink.gif

On Continental site you have this amazing possibility not to book same class for the two parts of the same trip ! Our tickets are only 500$ total... compared to 340$ economy, we have 2 suitcases of 70 lb + 20lb on the first ones times 2 travellers = 320lb of free luggage allowance more... that was worth it.

Of course I won't need that on the way back, at least 2 suitcases will be empty...

Are u taking photogs getting the one at the resort or relyi g on guest pics? Fi my mom and dad think we should just get people to take pics of the wedding but I feel like it would be a let down for me! What do u ladies think?
My resort doesn't have a photog so I hired Claudia Rodrgiguez (so excited !). She will be there for 3 hours, covering the ceremony, the pics after the ceremony and the cocktail (that starts just after the ceremony). I also have a lot of friends that love to take pics and come with their digital cameras, and I will have disposable cameras on the cocktail tables, on the dinner tables and on the bar with a scavenger hunt... We're covered wink.gif However I absolutely wanted pro pics of the ceremony.

honestly, i knew i didn't want to regret not having great photos, so i hired an outside photographer instead of using the guy that comes with our package. the package included 36 pics from the ceremony only, and i would have had to pay more anyway to get pics on disc, as well as to have him there longer to get pics of first dance, father-daughter dance, etc. the photographs, to me, were nearly the most important aspect of the whole wedding (aside from ended up married) ... my FI didn't see it my way ("how many pictures do you need?") so i went over his head and paid for a photographer myself. my budget wasn't very big, but i know i'll be much happier with my choice (moments that matter) than had i done nothing. my parents are 70 and 71, his grandmother is 70 ... not to be a downer, but how do we know how much time we've got left with them? especially all the family together ... that never happens! and for people who couldn't be there ... i wanted them to be able to *almost* experience it thru the pics.

unless you have friends/family who are really pretty good with a camera (and who wouldn't mind holding back on the fun long enough to get some really great pics ... don't forget, it's their vacation too, so it is a lot to ask) ... my advice would be to at the very least use the resort photographer, and if you can swing it, upgrade your package a little. oh, and in my experience, the disposable cameras on the tables end up full of butts and boobs, lol, not exactly the beautiful photo memories you might be envisioning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
