When do linen tan suits appear in stores?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

FI and I are in the process of looking for a tan suit and after browsing various stores in person and online the pickings are slim as everyones stock is now for winter!!! Does anyone know when most stores bring the summer suits in and how long it usually takes to have them altered and fitted, we are getting married at the end of April and Im concerned we may not have enough time?

You should start seeing some in January for Resort deliveries but the bulk of them should come in the end of March and April for spring/summer deliveries. Alterations depending on what they are should not take much time at all men usually just need the pants hem and finished the jacket should only need the sleeve/cuff as well if you need more then that it still shouldn't take very long. Now if the store you buy it from says it will take long they are lying and just tell them it is for your wedding and they should put you to the front of the line or take it somewhere else.It is not like a dress you can take it anywhere.

When we were shopping around (and couldn't find any), we were told that they start to appear in stores in late February but mainly early March. We are getting married April 1, 2009 and were told by all of the stores that we would be able to get one and have it altered in time. We decided to order one online because I was afraid that it would be too close for comfort! BUT..every single store we went to told us the same thing, late February/early March.

Thanks girls!

Ryans Girl -- where online did you buy your suit?

I might try to scoot down to Macy's one day and see what they have, I find it hard to figure sizes on the internet. We might just have to wait though at least it sounds like I have a little space of time between when they appear in stores and when we leave for the wedding. Thanks again.

We ordered it from Banana Republic. They don't ship to Canada though so we had to have it delivered to North Dakota and then we drove down to pick it up. I was really concerned about ordering a suit online without trying it on too but we were told that suit sizes don't vary much at all. You could just go to a store and have your FI try some suits on and get his size. It all worked out for us, thankfully!

I definitey wouldn't worry about whether or not you'll be able to get one in time. The only thing about getting them at the beginning of the season is that they will all be regular price.

If you are nervous about waiting to find one in the stores, or don't find one on-line, you could always get one custom made. There are tons of places in town that will do it, depending on how much you want to spend.
If you decide to go the mail-order route, there are a couple of places you can get packages shipped to in Blaine just over the truck crossing border. It makes life SOOO much easier for all this wedding/mail order stuff! Mine has been an absolute godsend! If you need the info for one, feel free to PM me.

We just did that last weekend. We had success at Banana Republic and the bonus was that it was really marked down. They were also able to search other stores for sizes and have items shipped provided that you pay up front. After we bought it, we also found quite a lot at Macy's - also on sale. Good Luck.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
