i'm not a total veggie, but i try to only eat 1-3 meat meals a week... my reasons aren't really because i'm an animal lover (although i do!)- i do it mostly because i like the idea of reducing my impact on the earth and because i certainly can't cough up the dough for organic meat and i don't like the idea of eating hormones. wink.gif

I totally stopped eating all meat 5 years ago. i am am not a vegan although I don't wear any leather, fur or any other animal products. Also if I do buy eggs they are cage free. i stopped eating meat because of a college professor I had and my love of animals. She just made me realize how horrible it is for the animals and I would never actually kill an animal myself to eat it so all in one day I just totally stopped eating meat and have never gone back to it.

Yep. I went Veggie this year. The impact it has on the earth and how many animals you save by going veggie!!! And after I learned what they do to animals. OMG! I cried and puked.

I started Vegan but I live in a really really small town. So they jack up the prices on vegan products. So it's too expensive for me to buy it and limited choices. Instead I do like Jessica. I try to buy non-cruelty items. One of my husband's patients has chickens and brings us the eggs. I stopped drinking milk. I eat no meat. I just try to keep the dairy to a minimum. I thought I started a thread a while back asking if anyone was vegetarian. I can't remember. Haha. We should totally share our favorite veggie recipes!!!

I am probably 90% veggie -- it has been hard to give up on fish, but I have it so rarely now, and usually when I'm traveling and have no other options. Even that I am cutting down on as well. Still eat eggs but from the farmers market, from chickens that still have their beaks. Cheese has been hard to give up, but again, not eating as often. Recently switched to soy yogurt (surprisingly not bad -- the Silk brand), and have been using soy milk for a while now (unsweetened -- the sweetened kind has so much sugar in it).

I stopped b/c I read Fast Food Nation -- after that, it was just over for me -- cow, pig, chicken, turkey -- I just gave it all up after I read that book. It was hard at first, but to be honest, I don't even miss it anymore. We eat pretty seasonally -- what is available from the farmers market, and it tastes so good, and we look forward to different produce at different times of the year. Right now, it's end of cherries/apricots, and beginning of figs and stone fruits, YUM! Tomatoes soon too, hooray!

Here is my current favorite cookbook from Deborah Madison -- on soups. They are yummy, healthy and everything has turned out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
