Stand up 2 cancer

I watched part of it. It brought to many sad memories for me. My mother recently passes from Pancreas cancer, my dad passed from Pancreas cancer, my grandmother from lung cancer, my other grandma from uterus cancer, and my sister has Multiple Myeloma. She has had a stem cell transplant and is now in remission.

I think it is awesome that people are trying to raise money!

My fiance currently has lymphoma and we are in a hospital for chemo...he will be having a stem cell transplant in December.

So, it means a lot to those of us that deal with this everyday!

Also, it is so important to focus on the positive! Our wedding April 4th!

I watched it. For me it was ironic that it was on tonight. I'm walking in a 5 mile walk tomorrow. My best friend has III stage ovarian cancer which her mom died from 7 years ago. We started a charity called Sisters Against Ovarian Cancer and had a fundraiser in May to raise money for research at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston where she is having her treatment. She's been on 3 different chemos in the last 2 1/2 years and has not been in remission. She's starting an experimental drug in a pill form in a couple weeks. Please say a prayer for her. There are six of us that started this organization and we raised $16,000 in one night. It was wonderful. Our second fundraiser is the walk tomorrow "Step Up and Break the Silence". It starts at 9:30 and we have over 145 people registered to walk and hopefully more will register in the morning. September is Ovarian Cancer Month, that's why we picked tomorrow for the walk. We expect to raise over $30,000 in addition to the $16,000. Our goal for this year is $50,000. It's our first year and we're getting bigger and bigger every day. We have a website if anyone wants to check it out, it's Sisters Against Ovarian Cancer and it tells all about the walk. We're pretty proud of it. We have a d.j. and balloon arches and signs, etc. I will post pics next week. My dad died of stomach cancer 5 years ago too. It sucks and I'm so glad people are standing up to cancer and raising some money. We need to make cancer go away forever!

I only watched a piece of it. Honestly, it was too hard for me. My grandfather died of non-hodgkins lymphoma less than 2 years ago.

I donate my time and money every year in some way to help this cause. It's very difficult to watch the personal experiences. I understand the value, but it's just hard.

Katiebell & Kathie - you are beautiful & strong women! I support you 100%.

I'm not sure if any of you are aware of a website called Caringbridge.com. I setup the site for my mother and my sister while they were fighting the battle. It allows people to express their well wishes and allows the family to keep everyone up to date on progress. Here is a link to my sister's site if you want to browse. CaringBridge. Free Websites That Support And Connect Loved Ones During Critical Illness. It is free to setup and use.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
