make-up for an asian gal?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies, there are lots of great reviews on hair and make-up and everyone looks so beautiful, but do any of you guys have any input for an asian gal like me? I hope no one is offended, but I've had make-up done at the counter by people who are not experienced working with asian features and it turns out horrible. Are there any asian brides on this post that can recommend someone in cabo, or anyone that had asian bridesmaids that were happy with their make-up? Thanks so much!

hey there fellow asian gal...my first question to you would be skin tone. colors will depend on how "yellow" you are. also don't forget that you'll probably be a little tan so think about the shade you turn in the sun. in general, I think pinks, blues and whites with black or brown liner works very well on the eyes.

I didn't get married in cabo so i'm don't have a vendor recommendation for you but if you're not going to do a trial, I would set a very early apt the day of the wedding to give yourself plenty of time to make suggestions...hope that helps!

OMG, I know what you mean! I got a trial run done here at home, and it turned out horribly! I was so worried about how it would turn out at the wedding. Fortunately, I absolutely looooved my makeup the day of. I could not have been happier - plus I was so relieved too. The makeup artist at the hotel did such an amazing job. I gave her two inspiration pics. I wanted something fresh and natural, but with a focus on the eyes. I brought my own fake lashes and glue. I got a tip from a makeup artist friend who told me to cut the fake lash in half and just glue them to the outer edges of the eye, which turned out beautifully (this I tried at home first).

Here were my inspiration pics. I probably got them off this forum somewhere.

ETA: Lol, I know the pics are not of Asian girls, but I couldn't find any that I liked.

I'm getting married in Cabo in Nov. and I'm having Suzanne Morel do my hair / makeup. I'll post pics too when I get back so you can see how it looks... Meanwhile have you seen Tammy (Host)'s makeup? She got married at Dreams Los Cabos and she looked very beautiful... her makeup was very pretty! I think overall most girls use Suzanne Morel so I trust her the most!

Wow, I'm so glad for all your responses! I can't wait to read all your reviews and see pictures. For those of you who are going with Suzanne, how far in advance did you guys do a trial run? And I looked at her prices and I didn't understand her prices for lashes. She charges $25 extra to apply fake eyelashes? Or $60 if she uses her own?

And Aeroo, how do I see your inspiration pictures?

Good post idea. I am scared of getting my makeup done by someone due to the fear of looking like a clown! I am thinking of either booking a session w/ a makeup artist here to pick out colors, products and learn how to apply it -- or I could take my chances! Maybe I'll bring specific colors I want for the artist in Mexico? Is anyone doing their own makeup? What are you ladies doing?

You can't see the pics? They are in there with my post. Weird, I can see them fine on my computer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
