Reception

I am wondering if anyone is having a reception back home after your wedding. I'm getting married April 23rd at Dreams and contemplating whether or not to have a big reception there, or to have just a small one and a bigger one back home. This would be for people who can't make it to Cabo. Ideas/suggestions? huh.gif

We are not haviong anything once we get home but only because all of our guests so far can make it. The wedding we went to in May limited who they invited to the wedding in Cabo and then had a reception at home. They had it in their back yard with a huge tent, a floor for dancing and it catered but friends brought their i-pods for music to dance to. Hope that this helps.

Sassybride - We have booked a really nice banquet room at a very modern hotel back home. The reception location would be no different if we were having our reception in Ontario. We have decided to have a cocktail reception since we like the idea of that atmosphere. We will have servers walking around with hot appetizers, as well as have stations with crackers, cheese, etc. Its going to be really nice!!

What are your plans? When are you having your wedding and what resort?

We dont have anything booked yet, but i have been thinking about what we would do as well. I mean the idea of having a dw is to have a beautiful wedding and not have to spend $20,000. I imagine if our guests cant make it that we would have something simple and casual when we came home. A backyard party would be all id want :)

The point of us having a DW is that there are way too many people who we would have to invite to a wedding in NYC it would be probably 300 guest min. So the DW was so much more our personality small and intimate. So we decided not to have anything when we return home because then we would be back at our original problem. Also all the people we love and really want to share it with will be with us if they can't make it to Jamaica then we don't like you enough to plan and pay for another party dizzy.gif I do commend the girls that can handle planning, paying and enjoying more then 1 eventthewave.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
