Marriage Certificate

Recommended Posts

So I originally wanted to be legally married in Mexico for all the right reasons - and also because I have seen pictures of the wedding license/certificate (my fiance calls it the mexican wedding gift certificate...lol) and I really wanted one - we are no longer doing the legal wedding in Mexico and I was wondering if anyone knew if a symbolic wedding included a symbolic marriage license certificate or if there is a company that you can request one from?

Not silly - I want one too! That's a good question - I am going to ask my WC. I want something to say where we had our ceremony, since that will be the date we celebrate as our wedding date.

That's good that you are getting a legal wedding outside Mexico, the whole blood withdrawal in another country really freaks me out. Must it really be done on the morning of your wedding? I hate needles so I could never do it let alone on the morning of the wedding. I hope you find a good alternative for the certificate, I'd love to see one since you called it a gift certificate lol.

Toby...when we applied for our marriage license, along with it came a "souveneir marriage certificate" that can be filled out with the date, time, location, etc. It's for keepsake/display purposes only. Perhaps you will get one of those when you get your license??

Ann, you do get a marriage certificate for your Las Caletas wedding! It says you were married on such and such date, but then at the bottom in small print, it says something about not legally binding, etc...

If I would have actually read the information on the Riu website I would have noticed that yes we do get a non binding non legal marriage (gift) certificate - in spanish...yay!!! Now I am onto a new battle - seems that you cannot do their cheapy package if you have more than 10 people. But, my response is what if i don't want all of the crap that comes in the bigger, more expensive package - oh yeah ladies...there is gonna be a battle. Its bad enough we have to pay for our booze at the AI resort....my attitude... Bring It!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
