Has anyone had a wedding at Barcelo Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

I am planning a wedding for April-May 2009 for about 40 people and have yet to select a resort. It seems like the most affordable one in PC is Barcelo Premium Punta Cana. It looks beautiful in photos but the reviews are mixed and the food reviews are pretty negative. I want to pick a resort that most people will be able to attend and enjoy but won't be over the top in package price for our guests.

Anyone heard of this resort? or have any suggestions?

I don't want to spend over $8,000, including our flight and hotel stay.

i'm not sure how far up my head is in the clouds!

hello well I just wanted to drop you a quick line. I have been to Punta Cana twice. The frist time it was at the Grand Oasis and it was nice. I dont know about wedding nice but great for a vacation. The second time my FI and I stayed at Barcelo Dominican Beach resort. ohhh it was awful! I am all about budget and this was a cheaper vacation for us but oh it was really bad. From the rooms to the front desk staff. My FI even posted a review on tripadvisor if your interested. Most of the complaints on that site was comparable to what we went through. Any questions let me know.

We picked Dreams Punta Cana because of the moderate price range, and loved the pics, also a friend of mine had been there for a wedding and she said they did a great job. We also picked it for the wedding package. After we decided on this resort the reviews on Trip advisor were pretty negative for awhile but have since turned back to positive.

But I will say that the time frame you are looking at for your wedding, they didn't much selection left for days. but good luck and congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Dreams Punta Cana looks so beautiful - I can't imagine any negative reviews for that hotel! Thanks for your post Img970. I already have that resort on my list b/c it looks perfect for a wedding, but unfortunately it's still out of my family's price range. Ya I have some searching and calculating still to do. I can't believe dates are booked there for Apr-May 2009! Maybe I'm a little naive about how much time is needed in advance to plan this thing. yikes...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
