Second, sadly what you say is true. My BF/MOH is Pakistani and she's been yelled at by cabbies in Chicago - all sorts of rasist sh*t about how she and her "people" ruined the US. She's like "dillhole, I was born and raised in Ohio."

awww...that makes me sooo mad! your poor friend.

i even had someone tell me that my english was so bad they couldnt understand me....if you have ever talked to me on the phone, i have no accent whatsoever.

Wanna have some fun? Take those order now pay later forms out of every ethnic magazine you can find and fill out their home addresses. At the very least it will cause them stress. I once had a homophobic boss and I subscribed him to the gayblade and he griped about it all week (didn't know it was me, apparantly his wife didn't believe it was a mix-up). It doesn't solve anything but that was my best week ever at that job. Hang in there . . .
Okay - so I am reading through some old posts and come across this.

At a job where I was before, someone suscribed the owner/president for GAY PORN and it was sent to the office! That got some talk started around there! pokestick.gif

oh on friday last week, we were having a legitimate discussion on whether to include accents and tildes in company and executive names, and i was making the case that its more correct to put tildes because it can change the meaning of the word (like for example año versus ano = year versus @$$hole), and my boss immediately yelled across the newsroom "you're just saying that because you're marrying a mexican!"

um no, im sorry... i was making the case for adding tildes and accents before i even started dating my FI.

I hate when everything turns into a race issue It's pretty annoying.

Yeah, people can be really stupid & ignorant sometimes. I have kind of learned to ignore most of it. My FI gets pretty offended though. We went out to dinner the other night at a steakhouse and at the end of dinner the waiter asked if we wanted two checks...and he was like "umm, NO". He was really upset, because to him it was like the waiter didn't think we belonged together. FI wanted to write on the check "No, jerk shes my wife". LoL. I didn't let him though.

People are such twits. I mean seriously!!!!

Whenever I'm at work and hear a comment that begins "I'm not a racist..." or is otherwise blatantly offensive, I just smile and say "you're okay if I quote you to HR on that, right?" Even if they think it, it shuts them up so I don't have to listen to their stupidity.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
