How Will I Know if Baby is Distressed in utero?

I was going to ask this in the "mommies-to-be" thread, but figured I would get more answers out here since not everyone that has experience with babies reads that thread.

How will I know if Noah is distressed in utero?

This may sound silly, but since I am new to this and never thought it would happen, (and I am a worrier by nature) I am super extra cautious....

Last night when I was trying to go to bed, it felt like Noah was beating the crap outta me. At first I thought it was funny, but then I got scared. Like what if he was in distress and was fighting for his life. I mean, he was hitting/kicking/moving hard (couldn't tell which it was)!

Should I be glad he was doing this or worried? I woke Jay up to feel it and he freaked out.

If he was stressed, like if the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck or something, would I go in to labor or would I never know?

Oh and I Googled and couldn't find any answers....

Yes, lack of movement until about the last month can mean distress. Closer to nine months, he will just run our of room to be active so please don't worry then also! Your MD/Midwife can also check the heartbeat and compare to previous visits. Noah is gaining strength and ability, hence why his kicks and blows feel stronger. When Noah was smaller, you would not feel the movements he made but he is almost a mini man now! Don't worry, sounds like everything is fine like the ladies said :)

Martha he is just getting bigger and running out of room so he's making it! If you ever feel a lack of movement over a long period you should worry but a lot of movement just means you have an active little boy.

He is probably assuming the position and getting ready. Ainsleigh finally went head down at 34 weeks, but I was told that first babies tend to go a little earlier (head down I mean)

Yep - everyone here has it right! My son got so rambunctious that FI could see him kicking and punching me! Only need to worry when you DON'T feel him moving.

If there comes a time when you don't feel him move for 8 hours or so - call the doctor ASAP!

Oh how I miss that feeling inside you when you are carrying a child. Soak in all these wonderful memories Martha. Time flies by too quick!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
