Eternity band pros & cons?

Recommended Posts

I think I'm going to go with a half band. Especially since as Natasha brought up the eternity band can't be resized... since I'm going to be wearing the ring forever I want to make sure it'll always fit...

also my E-ring has small diamonds around only half of it so it could match...

Other thing is whatever you end up getting you could always a get a "new" one at an anniversary if you want to change it. A friend of mine has a simple white gold band from her wedding and is planning on getting one with diamonds for her 1st wedding anniversary... so at least you know that you're not "stuck" with something. I'm sure that no matter what you pick you'll love it.

P.S. I am the worst typer in the world - sorry for my constant typos!

My e-ring is a half eternity.. mainly because of the sizing reason as well. But rather than the bottom being a straight band, its like flat on the inside and the outside part is like little balls about the same size as the diamonds. I know that probably hard to visualize as I'm not explaining it very well.. but I love it. It kind of continues the look of the diamonds so its not a sharp end of them if the ring turns or anything and it's super comfortable!!

I'll try to post some pics when I can if anyone is interested.

I'm always interested in seeing jewelry!!! I'm a visual person so without a picture I have a hard time!

As some of you know, this is Mark and my second wedding (to eachother) so this time around we picked our rings out together. I actually opted only for a so called engagement ring with no band... I went with an "all the way around" eternity band, my finger has been the same size for as long as I can remember, (at least 7 years) so I'm not too worried about it not fitting later. Worst case... I'd have to have the ring remade. Resizing isn't always the best thing to do anyway, so says my jeweler! My last ring had lots of "stuff" around the center stone and it took focus of the diamond itself. This time I wanted all of the focus to be on the diamond and not the band. Who knows, maybe one day I'll change my mind and add a band or something.

We actually looked at rings last weekend so I figure I would chime in :)

I really don't want a band that "matches" the band on my ering, rather I want something that compliments it. We went to Robbins Bros last weekend (Chris calls it the Circus) to look at bands since they have such a huge selection. I did finally find something that I liked, but just my luck they cannot order it in platinum, so it would have to be custom made. I think as long as we're going to do a custom set, I am going to try to get an eternity band.

As far as travel/sports go. I am planning to also buy a cheapie titanium band to wear when I really don't want to wear my regular band & ering.

We are going with an eternity band. I thought about the fact that it could not be re-sized, but I fell in love with it. I uploaded an image of it in the vBPICGallery.

P.S. our friend owns a wholesale diamond store in Dallas. We got our E-ring and had it insured for twice what we paid. If anyone will be in Dallas, I can give you the shop address!

Jennifer, your wedding eternity band looks just like the one I want to go with my ring. I'm like you once I seen the eternity band I fell in love with it. Plus both my FI and I do alot of out door sports so I wear my band and no my E-ring during those times. So I wanted something that would look good regardless what I'm doing.

  • 1 month later...

we found my band today and ordered it. We ended up going with an eternity band, as it wasn't much more expensive than the band that we were looking at - which had diamonds 3/4 of the way around. Buying a wedding band is a seriously surreal experience. I am on the hunt for a photo of it, or something similar and will post it once I find one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
