If I don't have RSVP cards sent out with invitations but tell guests to RSVP on our wedding website will they do this?

FI thinks they would but I'm not sure.

If they don't RSVP by website do I then send them a letter to remind them or do I give them a friendly call....

Also when did you send out STD's and when did you send your invitations (I know there is a thread on this but can't find it)

Thanks ladies,

Andrea

I'm having my guests RSVP on the website... since we're sending out 100 plus invitations and only expect about 20 ppl to go, call me cheap but I didn't want to waste the money on postage for RSVP cards.

As far as sending out Invitations after STD's, I think I may send them out 2 weeks after the STDS.

We sent out a little card with the invitations that told people how/where to RSVP online, but then we did not have to pay for envelopes or postage back.

Honestly, no matter how you do it, some people will simply not reply and you will have to follow up with them. Sad, but true. Call them, email them, whatever you need to do that works.

We sent our STD's 9 months early and our invites 3 months early. You have to balance too early (people aren't ready to deal with it yet) and too late (people don't have time to book a trip).

I'm not sending out RSVP cards either. So far, everyone (except for my bro) was RSVP'd on my site. I have also been communicating with my TA, as she updates me everytime someone books.

Now if people do not use her, and do not RSVP on my site, then I'm $crewed, but I'm hoping everyone follows directions =) Everyone has been so excited when they book, they have been calling and telling me...

I had our website on our STD and I'm also putting RSVP to our website on our invites.

We sent our STD at the end of January and are sending our invites at the begining of April. It's 4 months in advance, but I want to give everyone advance notice that it's near...

Hope that helps!

I was talking to one of BM's last night about these sorts of issues and she agrees that people usually wait until they get the formal invite to do anything, so they probably won't RSVP with the STD, however I have some family that will not even go to the website even though they have computers and everything, so we are sending traditional RSVP's hoping to get more that way, we are providing links on our site for people who would rather RSVP online, but I doubt many will.

As far as timing, we sent our STD's in January and will be sending out the Invites hopefully by the end of this month. If you send them too close together I don't think it has the same effectiveness, but if you send one or the other too early or too late it also looses that effectiveness.

I'm starting to deliever (here in Mexico we don't send them by mail) my STDs and I think I'll deliever my formal invitations in may.. for rsvp I know people would never send them.. not even e-mail me the confirmation, so I know I'll have to call everyone..

We sent out a note with our STD cards for everyone to RSVP through our web site. We sent them out 5 months in advance. So far people have been cooperating. We are not sending out formal invites, to save money. I'm sure we will have to make a few calls, but I'm not to worried about it.

I went ahead and sent rsvp cards in my invites mainly because I am inviting a few older people who don't hardly know how to turn on a computer. I also have an rsvp link on my website only one person used it after I sent out the stds.

I mailed my stds in August, and my wedding is in June. I wish I would have sent the stds sooner, some people had already planned family vacations during our wedding weekend.

I mailed my invites last week for my June wedding. I would have liked to have sent them later, but our room block is being released March 21st, so I wanted to give people time to book their room. But, it felt strange to send the invites out almost 4 months before the wedding....oh well.

I like this thread--- I was wondering whether to use the RSVP function on our website too but questioned whether people would use it. I know quite a few people will because my FI gave the website address to about 10 people and they immediately started it to other people who knew us, and the next thing we knew, there were something like 110 visits that first day and some logs in the Guestbook.

But we also have some older family members who aren't as PC savvy and a couple who don't have PC's too. So I'm thinking we'll send a semi-RSVP with our STD to get a feel for how many rooms to block and cut back on formal invites. Then the formal invites will go out with mostly online RSVP references and a handful of certain people will get cards to mail back.

Damn, so much to think about and figure out!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
