We did the private reception with the Carribean buffet @ $40 a person. The food was good. The centerpieces were $50 each. I didnt have to pay any service charge for Leah because she was a guest of the resort. I did pay for her to eat dinner, which is normal at any wedding. The reception at the beach club was really windy which was good to cool down my guests but bad for all the tea light candles I brought which wouldnt stay lit. I also made a bunch of luminary bags which the decorations were blowing off of because it was so windy. I would definitely bring covered candle holders if you want candles. Dawn, your pictures are beautiful, thanks for sharing them. My engagment ring is almost identical to yours!

Thanks everyone. She sent me some but it wasn't clear how the layout was. We will have some dance performances so we have to make sure the floor is big enough and will be easily viewable for our guests.

I found another pic below, is this still the beach club?

Wowza... There is pages and pages and pages and pages to this thread! I am currently trying to organize my wedding at the Xcaret, but am having problems settling on a price. I was originally sent a letter after I contacted marialma saying that the wedding package was free with 10 rooms booked (right now we have 13) and then we were told that that didn't apply to us because we used a TA.. and on and on. Getting quite frustrated at this point. I'm glad there are some girls here who have had a good experience!

We originally planned to stay at the Royal Playa Del Carmen and Gran Porto Real and sent out the info in June. But we didn't get much interest. I think much of it was due to the price which was $2000 and $1500 CDN respectively.

My fiancee and I decided to see what else was out there. We checked out the different options and XCaret looked to be the best deal. We stayed there previously so we got some quotes. Long story short we were able to get the week for our guests for $1000CDN all inclusive (flights, transfer, hotel) so we jumped on it and so did everyone else. We sent out the info mid August and as of today we have 71 booked.

So we did talk to Marialma about transpo and she gave us some numbers to contact. Now just trying to figure out the menu for the dinner. Sucks that we only get to give our guests 2 choices for the main course. Was hoping to give the options of beef, chicken or vegetarian, but Marialma says we only get to choose from 2. Don't see why we can't have more options if we give the chef enough notice.

We also have to rent out the A/V equipment which sucks because the Royal was not charging us for that.

But overall we are happy that things are finally moving along.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
