Any Occidental Grand Xcaret brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I just found this review on Trip Advisor title "Wedding of a lifetime":

"My now husband, myself, and our wedding party stayed and got married at the Occidental Grand Xcaret. We had a fabulous time! We stayed at the Royal Club and now will not go any other way. You are whisked off in a gold cart to the private Royal Club entranace where they give you chilled champagne and check you in quickly. The rooms are beautiful with a huge bathroom, ours had a pool size whirlpool tub, a hammock on the balcony, and a full size dining room table. The whole resort is outstanding with beautiful scenery, excellent food (loved Paco's Taco's and the steak restaurant). But the best part of course was our wedding. The weeks leading up to the wedding were stressful because they really don't let you plan anything in advance but... once you got there and sat down with the wedding planner they took care of everything to a T. My only advise would be... if you did make arrangements with a DJ or any outside vendor, check with them before the wedding day, the DJ didn't have any of our music, thankfully we had our IPod and were able to do our first dance as planned. Overall, you can't find anywhere with better ambience and service in the Yucatan Pen."

I am thinking about OGX also. Thanks for all of the infomation, please post more on group rate if available. We dont have a travel agant but if it is worth it wee will find one. Can anyone recomemend one? How much of a discount are group rates for rooms. Thanks and sorry about all of the questions.

Hey Steph!

I do have a travel agent and love it cause all my guests questions are getting directed to her! we sent out over 100 invites, and my fiance and I are both in medical school and didn't want to be dealing with all the arrangements. I'd recommend one based on the number of guests you're planning on having. The rate we have is just a little cheaper then what i'm finding on sites like expedia, etc.

We decided not to do a group rate. My understanding was that its more helpful during the busy season to insure there will be enough rooms. At OGX you personally have to put the deposit down now on all the rooms, and then you'll get the money back once others book. We didn't have the money to do that either. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding rooms in June. There's some great deals now for the summer. I'm hoping they get extended through to next year!

Hey Everyone!

I'm getting married at the Occidental Grand this December as well.

Sarah, I'd love if you could e-mail me the information that Marialma sent you. I actually already have the date booked, but don't have all the arrangements taken care of.

Good luck with the planning everyone!

Danielle -- I have an excel doc I can email you with some prices. According to Marialma you can add almost anything you want, it'll just cost you. For example, I wanted my brother to play the keyboard during the ceremony so I asked if I could rent one. $375!!! So i skipped that idea and am going to make him lug his guitar from the states.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
