Calling all Villa Brides

I've planned to have my wedding at Casa Salamandra in Nuevo Vallarta! I'm planning to have the ceremony on the beach followed by dinner in the pool area. I think we might move to the beach again after dinner for dancing and more drinks!

Cindy-

OMG!!! Casa Salamandra is amazing. We looked at that villa in May, we didn't go with it because at the time they were charging 8K event fee plus you couldn't stay there and the party had to end by 11pm. I hope all that has changed for you. The place is great for an event. Check out KLK photography she shot a wedding there for Lori/Richard this year. It will blow your mind.

Well they required that we stay there for a week and then charged an event fee. After the wedding, my family will be staying there for a week so I guess it worked out. I saw Lori's pictures a while back and was struck with awe! I hope my wedding comes out that nice and that our guests have a great time!

Well we hired this guy that is from the River Cafe group, his name is Eduardo. He's been pretty easy to work with and pretty good on finding prices. I haven't seen than anyone on BDW has used him so it makes me a little scared but at this point I just need to hope he knows what he's doing.

Prices tend to be a bit higher because you have to rent the tables, chairs, linens, glassware, silverware, etc. Based on the pricing I was given, you are looking at over $100/person catering typically to account for all the rentals needed. I am sure there is a huge range of pricing and some may price out the catering and rentals seperately. Most of the villas I looked at charge one nights rental fee as an event fee.

The privacy and intimacy of the villa wedding made the extra cost worth it.

Hi, I'm new on BDW. We are thinking about booking Casa Angela for a May 2011 wedding. We were between Casa Angela and Carol Ann, but had opted for Casa Angela as we liked the romantic ambience. However, my fiance is Australian and we are living in Australia. We can't afford to go check places out, so we are going off of the websites and the pics there, so if anyone has seen casa angela and can offer any feedback, I'd really appreciate it. We need a mininium of 8 bedrooms, preferable 9-10 depending on how the beds are configurated (5 kids will becoming). We're also on a bit of tight budget since I don't want accomodation for the week to be too expsensive since the family from Australia is already having to pay quite a bit for plane tickets. The other great thing about Casa Angela is that they will cater for up to 30 people, we just need to buy food and there is only a $15 per person event fee...we are only planning on having about 30 people so these were definitely selling points. I've gotten a few references from Casa Angela, but still would really like to hear opinions on it! Thank You!

Hi! We are booking our wedding at Villa Flor de Cabrera in the Dominican Republic. It is absolutely beautiful--10 bedroom villa with on-site wedding planner, chef, concierge, host, and laundress. The price is reasonable, has A/C, pool, and is on the beach. It's a beautiful site. See my other post for more information.

Hi ladies,

After getting SO MUCH useful info from BDW, I need to start sharing :)

I found a lovely villa-like place off of tripadvisor called Bungalows Lydia in San Pancho, which is about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. Just google Bungalows Lydia. After searching high and low for an intimate villa to have our wedding, this was by far the most affordable and awesome place I could find. In short, it's oceanfront, on a rocky promontory between two private beaches with nothing but jungle around it. I haven't seen it in person but the pictures are breathtaking. We're planning on having a private ceremony on the beach followed by a reception in the palapa. And they don't charge an event fee! Mayte, the lady I've been in contact with has been so helpful and accommodating, even suggesting that they would build us a restaurant on the premises just for our guests/event. I am still shocked by that.

Anyways, the downside is that it has a max capacity of about 25 and they don't allow non-guests to use their property, so it has to be a very small wedding. Also, there's no AC, but it does getconstant tradewinds. I hope someone finds this useful!Picture 16.png

Best,

Ming

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
