I love my current e-ring, but I haven't chosen a band or anything to match it yet, it's been kinda hard to find a matching band to be honest. Let me post a pic:

I'm not completely opposed to choosing a new ring. Since picking this one (which wasn't well researched, and I didn't really even look around, I just went "Ooh! That one!" And didn't look at what else was out there) I found more than I like equally if not more, so I'm not completely opposed to changing it, I just hate the fact that this was the ring FI originally gave me, and I will still keep the ring forever, maybe wear it on my right hand. And again, I'm not 100% sure it's even topaz, it could be anything! I just know it's lab-created

Then I'd pick a new one out. I'm having my actual diamond reset to a setting to match our wedding bands. Originally I wasn't going to wear my Ering anymore, but I've since changed my mind (my FI says I'm ADD)

I would do some research of what you really like, and what type of bands you want also IF you want matching bands. Take your time this time. And like you said, you could always wear it on the right hand or put it away and if you have a daughter down the road give it to her as a special present once she is old enough, the first ring daddy bought me. Especially if she ends up a daddys girl!!

I hate to bust your budget but I say to start all over again. Listen, we want to think our ring will be with us forever. Forever! So why start out with a damaged ring? Your FH shouldn't feel bad...it wasn't his fault.

I actually like the second ring you picked out better than the first one. I mean you can always keep that one, and just wear it sparingly to make sure it doesn't fade much more than it already has.

since you still love it & it's not damaged, I'd definitly keep it. what about having it as your e-ring & then getting a new ring for your wedding ring. Then wear this one on your right hand. I don't think it's a ring that would go well with a band.

You can take your time with the wedding ring & do the research. I'm just a big supporter of considering stones other than diamonds. there are plenty of great gemstones that will last forever. sapphires are a great choice.

I just saw you add pics. I do like the subsitute. I still think you could just get that as your wedding ring & after the wedding wear the e-ring less often to keep it in good shape. it's also a ring that I think just looks better on it's own with no band.

I'm definitely keeping the ring I have now, I even have the matching necklace from the set, so it's a nice ring/necklace set I can wear when I want to look a little dressy ^_^ And I really like the idea of giving it to a daughter/daughter-in-law if I have no daughters. It would be an amazing keepsake for them, I know because my mother gave me my grandmother's engagement ring that I still cherish. But I'm definitely going to take my time and look at ring settings, band styles, types of stones, etc. and REALLY pick out something long-lasting this time. I would rather have a gemstone because they make a ring more unique, and if I was to buy a diamond, it would be a Canadian diamond, and they are WICKED expensive lol I'd have to superglue the ring to my hand, or I'd be so paranoid I'd never wear it, and I definitely don't want either of those. Plus, my band is probably going to be fairly simple with no stones as I am planning on going back to school in the very near future to do cosmetology, and stones won't work when cutting and styling hair lol So I'm going to do my research and look at all of my options very closely to make sure where I'm spending my money this time (and the staff at the store lol)

I also think that you should just go with either your second choice for a ring, or another on that you find you love. There is no reason you still can't keep and wear the original ring. Honestly, my original e-ring was a fill in until we could afford the actual ring. The fill in one has 3 peridot stones since they are my birthstone (they are actually a nice colour too, since so often they aren't that great!). Once I got the other ring, I took the birthstone ring off my left hand and started wearing it on my right hand sometimes. Although it isn't the same situation, it has similarities as far as changing from one ring to another.

Hope I am not too late. If it was me I would keep the one you have but replace the stones if that bothers you. Here is a great place that has man made stones that WILL NOT fade.

Welcome to Shelby Gem Factory - Since 1970!

The website is kind of bad but the store is amazing. My FMIL has 2 beautiful rings from there. Contact them and they can do everything through the mail.

BTW does your e-ring have heart shaped stones? I was starting to wonder if I was the only one. My FI had a heart shaped diamond cut for my e-ring so we could get a wrap made to turn it into a claddagh.
