I think you should get a replacement ring. If the original ring is already fading and giving you so many problems and stress it will only get worse. As others have said...this ring is FOREVER! I would rather get the new one now then after your married.

i totally agree with morgan, and i adore the "new" ring. just move the "old" one to your right hand when you get married and use the "new" one on your left hand.

it is really pretty by itself!

That's a really cool idea!

I voted to go with a new ring as well, just so that you don't have any bad memories of it going in. Make sure you do your research this time and get exactly what you want. I have a sapphire and highly recommend it if you are not looking for diamonds. Sapphires and Rubies are second in hardness only to diamonds and won't fade. I am sure you can find a great ring with a wonderful stone and one that you can wear forever!

Your first ring will always be special to you, but you do want something you can wear forever, and something you can get a wedding ring to match!

Well, after a couple of days, finally some good news :) I got my e-ring back from the shop, and after a new rhodium coating and a nice buffing and cleaning of all the stones, it looks amazing cheesy.gif Still faded, but I think the fading over the past two years may be due to the cleaning solution used at the store. SO, I've decided to keep the ring as my e-ring for now, because after the wedding I'm going to wear a plain band (again, cosmetology doesn't really allow for stones lol) so I won't be wearing the e-ring that much anyway. But before I make that my final decision, I'm going to make sure that this ring won't fade anymore as long as I take good care of it. If it WILL continue to fade despite my tlc, then I WILL be switching the e-ring and maybe buying the e-ring and my wedding band as a set so they're guaranteed to match, but if I'm assured 110% that they won't fade anymore if I take really good care of them (and keep them away from that damn solution lol) then I'm going to keep it :) But thanks so much for everyone's advice and input, it was greatly appreciated cheesy.gif And it helped me come to my final decision. If it does continue to fade, I'm definitely switching the entire ring and doing my research this time wink.gif

The ring you want to replace your e-ring with is GORGEOUS... I typically don't go for engagement rings that are not diamonds, but that one is definitely an exception to my rule.

I notice that a lot of people outside where I live (NYC) go for e-rings that are not diamonds... any reason why? Or any reason why we do? I just find it odd... isn't the symbolism of a diamond supposed to mean forever?

Just curious wink.gif

I can't speak for everyone, but for i think it is just a matter of personal preference - just like the metal you choose, gold, white gold, platinum, whatever.
I chose a sapphire because i have always loved sapphires. They have such character and personality. To me, diamonds are pretty, but they just don't really do anything for me. I wanted something special and unique... and since 90% of brides have diamonds, well, i wanted to go a different route. I think more and more brides are wanting something unique and suited to them.cheesy.gif

btw - "Diamonds are forever" is an advertising ploy put forth by DeBeers to increase the popularity of diamonds and thus make more money. You guys might find this article interesting...

I'm one of these girls that HATES diamond solitaires... They're pretty, but they're 'belly button' rings, everyone seems to have one... My friend got engaged shortly before I did and she got a solitaire, and for the life of me I can't remember her ring perfectly, or any of the other solitaires I've seen from girls. They blend together so I have no idea what my friends' rings look like. So I wanted something VERY unique, everyone knows I LOVE pink, and nobody has EVER forgotten what my e-ring looks like wink.gif That's my reason. PLUS, if I ever lose my ring by some unfortunate event, I'm not out thousands of dollars, just a few hundred :) Therefore, I can afford a suitable replacement (like now) without too much cursing and swearing lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
