Thursday Wedding?

Recommended Posts

So I just got dates back from the Riu palace and they only have Thursdays avalible? Any thoughts? Does this make is hard on guests? We have a "Thank you" dinner instead of a "Welcome" dinner? I just feel having it on a thurday night, if people have to come in on thurday, it won't give them time to settle, meet up with us, etc. I am so confused now!!!

I think you should have your wedding on whatever day you want, or whatever works for you. Since it is a destination wedding and people are travelling, and have advance notice, they should be able to schedule holidays around it. I am assuming most people are staying at least a few days...so in all honesty I don't see why it matters if you have it on a Saturday vs. Thursday!

On vacation noone knows what day it is anyway!

If people are staying for a week, I think Thursday is a PERFECT wedding day. People can book from the Saturday before to the Saturday following. And that way if you want extra days afterward without all your guests around...they will be leaving 2 days later.

My wedding is on a Thursday, it was my third choice of dates but it worked out fine. I was really worried that a lot of my guests wouldn't go but no one had a problem with it.

Can you wait to see how long your guests are booking for before you decide on a welcome vs thank you dinner? I think either would be appreciated by your guests.

I felt the same way as you...My wedding has to be on a Wednesday since that's the only date available. I wanted a Friday-Monday...Anyone one of those dates, so if people didn't want to stay, it could be a long weekend...but I am happy I got a date and we are making due with a Wednesday.
No one really seems to mind actually, so I think your ok :-)
Everyday is a Saturday at a DW!! :-)

I had found out the hard way that you absolutely cannot please everyone when it comes to setting a date. Our wedding was on a Tuesday because that was the only day Dreams had available. I kept going back and forth and finally realized that those who want to be there will be there no matter what day you decide and those don't, wont! And I do also agree with the rest of the girls that on vacation, no one knows what day of the week it is anyway; the beauty of a DW! Good luck with your decision!

Thanks to all! I am waiting to hear back from Paola. I think there still might be more times avalible then what the web site says! Anyone had that experience? ? Because without even putting down my deposit it blacked out the day I choose. So I am sure people fill out those requests and don't follow through!

Thank again!

When we were getting ready to book, there was a chance that we might have flew down on the Mon. If we did, our first choice was to get married on the Thurs. Our flight down is leaving on Thurs though, so we chose Sun. We wanted to get the wedding over as soon as we could while down there so we could relax and enjoy the rest of the holiday without worrying about the wedding. A couple years ago we were at a wedding on a Thurs in Cuba. It doesn't matter for DW IMHO. It is a holiday.

Like the other Canadian that wrote, our whole trip is one package deal and everything is included in one price, the airfare, AI hotel & transfers. These trips leave and return on the same day of the week. We fly down on Thurs and fly home on Thurs. We have th option of 1 week or 2 weeks. Going to Mexico it could be different since there is so many more flights though.

My wedding is on a Thursday--we have many people flying in on Sunday and staying the week, we have a few who are flying in early Wednesday to make the sunset cruise we have planned for that night....and ONE bridesmaid who is flying in the morning OF the wedding (not to pleased about this, but she's a teacher and it's all she could do!!!) there are some who can't make it but those who have always planned on coming, will come!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
