hi alyssa, i did this but i never took pics, i will try to do that tonight.

 

the number one thing i forgot to do is: peel the wax paper AWAY from the candle when you are done heating! i am such an idiot. my candle looked pretty cool, but i couldnt figure out why it had so many air bubbles. i kept re-heating it and smoothing it out. finally i gave up (it was at about 1:00am the night before the wedding when i started the project!) and left it. when it got lit at the wedding the candle heated up and the whole picture was full of bubbles, you couldnt even see the pic of my grampa i thought "wow no one said that would happen!"

 

then last week when i went to pick up some stuff from my moms house i found the candle in a box and pulled it out. as i was telling doug about what happened, i noticed that the wax paper was peeling off, so i took one edge and peeled it away and lo-and behold, a fantastic pic of my grampa was perfectly waxed to the candle underneath.

 

so, maybe i just didnt read the instructions far enough (or too long ago before i tried and i forgot!) but dont forget to take the wax paper AWAY from the candle after you use the heat to take the wax off

 

alyssa, i used about a 3"x6" pillar candle, maybe a little bigger (whatever the standard size is?) and when i created the picture i just made sure to customize the box size to fit in the dimensions.

alyss, i just used 2x3s because i wasnt sure that we were going to take them to mexico (ends up that we arent taking them because we went with a dif kind of motif for the tables) - but i designed it in a word doc using text boxes. then i just did a few test prints on regular paper before i did it on the tissue paper to size it correctly and hold the test page up to the candle to see what it would look like.

 

ohhhhh btw.... dont forget, you have to use an ink jet printer... it doesnt work with laser printers

Ok - cool! i just ordered forty 2.25" x 4" unscented white candles from this discount site, now i am going to start my background and then put the names on each one. wish me luck LOL

I'm pretty sure they were 3x3 candles, just some cheapos that I got on sale at Hobby Lobby. Judging by the picture, I'd say the image is 2" wide by 3" tall, or thereabouts.

Alright...so if I read correctlyyou used white tissue paper like the king you put in a gift bag? NOT the kind you blow your nose with or the kind you wipe other extremeties with?

yes, white gift tissue, not like kleenex.

 

ok i also forgot to mention, i DID use a hair dryer, mine has an attachment, and gets SUPER hot (i need that to help straighten my hair!) and it worked JUST fine. no need to spend any money if you have a decent hair dryer with the attachment concentrating the air flow.

 

i just measured the candle and it is a 3"x6", brand "meltables", scent honey butter (not that matters, but it smelled heavenly and burned well).

girls - can anyone help me out?

 

i have been printing the logos on the tissue paper and none of it gets stuck BUT i have black 'smear', roller marks on the tissue paper.

 

i have tried about 5 different settings - did this happen to anyone else?

 

any advice?

 

(i have a Brother InkJet printer)
