Kissingballs or Pomanders

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone..

After I received that high $200 price for my centerpieces I have decided to go with something a little less doh.gif, Im hoping and have decided to do hot pink pomanders/kissing balls all down my table with tealights...so the question is, how can I make them stay in one place without them rolling around? My wedding will be on the beach so Its going to be windy...Pls help! Should I stand them on something? i figured if I did it would take the look away from the ball...feedback.gif

Thanks Amy, you mean only do 1/2 ball? I think they will still be too light to sit on the tables, wont they? And I was also thinking that they might not look like balls at that time...lol

No not half, just a slice on the bottom of the ball so they can sit on a small surface. Are you planning to use real flowers? If so, I think they will be heavy. The florist will most likely soak the floral foam in water to help keep the flowers fresh.

Thank you. My WC took care of all the centerpeices, I cannot imagine lugging all of that with me. To be honest though, it was easier than I thought taking all the boxes. Two of the boxes were pretty much filled with starfish so they were light. DH, MIL, godmother and myself each took a box and my mom took the carry-on (we were all fortunate to have booked before the extra fee for the second bag).

What kind of flowers were you thinking of using?? My FG's each had a small pomander with green buttons and they were about $25 each. The pomanders in our centerpeices were carnations I believe. We paid about $65 for each centerpeice total.

Are you using a florist from your hotel?? I remember Anny (anacgarcia) hired her own florist who did an amazing job in Cancun.

edit: I found her florist http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t8589-2

I just got my silk ones from balsacircle.com in fuschia (about $200 shipped for 10 I think though I knew I could resell to recoup some of my cost vs. real flowers) and I am sitting them on top of vases I am renting from the florist. I am putting pink floralytes in the bottom and covering them with silk fuschia rose petals and filling the vase with water. Balsacircle did ok, I wish they had been shipped in better packaging as some of the flowers came off the styrofoam during transit and I had to put several back together. I shipped mine yesterday to the caterer who is setting everything up for me and UPS ground it was less than $20. My centerpiece will sit on a black/white damask runner and/or black lace...I am considering alternating tables.

wow sounds beautiful, do you have a picture of how you are setting them on top of that vase? I was thinking of maybe setting them inside of a wicker basket. I saw it and thought it was cute but I am now considering just cutting them like I was told but I dont know if adding rose petals will take the look away from the balls...I was thinking of doing tea lights, the battery operated ones. I cant ship anything to Dreams because they refuse to accept anything prior to your wedding so im stuck lugging it with me

Here are some pics I was playing with at home. The vase will be different I used things I had at home to try and simulate the look. Will your hotel accept a delivery in advance? I've never known a hotel that would not accept a package before arrival. I can't use flames on the yacht so the battery floralytes worked for me to have some lighting effect. I'm using some battery candles that flicker to use next to a memorial photo of my grandpa that I will have there....they work well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
