lol sorry everyone calls it something different ....I usually do them myself but my cousin did it this time...basically its a wig with the top out...I first leave out a small amount of hair at the front/top, on the sides and in the back...I braid the rest of my hair down then wrap black sanex strips around and put on a black stocking/wig cap. After that I sew the cap on with needle and thread  going throughout the braids. After that the weave is glued on to the cap and when we get to the top (by then the cap should be glued on pretty tight) we cut out the front part that covers the top of my hair I leave out.

It sounds more confusing then it is lol I've been doing it for about 5 years now and get them everytime I go on vacation washing the weave and everything (I also go swimming with it but not alot). It always last me anywhere from 3-4 weeks especially if you have a good brand of weave. My fav is goddess REmy ;)

Thanks for the explanation. I've seen them being done at my salon, but never heard of his one. I thought it was something like a stocking cap with the hair glued to it. I had no idea you could leave the hair out. I'm thinking to do my weave with the split cap idea. I want to leave my front, sides, and back out, but more than just the edges. My hairdresser HATES to do that, as she thinks it damages the hair, but she told me she would do it every other installation. So I figure if I don't leave my edges out for the next 6 months until my wedding in June 2011, then she'd be more willing to hook me up, lol.

It's been awhile since I've made any post to this thread but my wedding is over and my split cap weave was a success....I got married in Mexico at Azul Sensatori hotel ....I took a chance and allowed them to do my hair and makeup and I was so glad I did, they did an AMAzzzZING job....I had to help the stylist out with straigtening my top a little but she did everything else and it was gorgeous...my photographer has really great shots of my hair and as soon as I get them I will post but for now this is all I have :) good luck and don't stress too much about the hair thing just make sure you have a good flat iron :)Shal in gown.jpg

Hi everyone~ This is an AWESOME thread!!

I'm getting married in May 2001 at EPM and I'm still going back and forth with hair styles and hair type for that matter.

I think I'm going to get Micro Fusion so I can have the versatility with styling my hair. My mind changes like the wind, so I'd want to have the freedom of changing my hairstyle last minute if I want to....

I'm leaning toward either Indian or Brazilian hair...yet I'm worries about the humidity and how the virgin hair will react to the heat. Still working on it...but there are some great tips in this thread!!!

I think I want to go with this Lauren London hair color though...

wish I had known about the split cap weave before my wedding! You look wonderful!  I need some more details about the split cap weave because I am going on a cruise in Jan and don't want braids.

Anyway, since this forum has been so helpful to me when I was getting ready for my destination wedding, I figured I should let others know what I did for my wedding hairstyle.  we got married May 2010 at Valentin Imperial Maya in Mexico.  Beautiful place!  I decided to do Invisible braids, but most of them slipped out when I washed them during the vacation!  You cant see the braids in the picture, but I pulled the hair to the side and pinned; curls achieved with flexi-rods and mousse

Hi Chocolate Brides!

I haven't been as active on this forum...not as active as I am in the Turks & Caicos forum anyway.

So I'm beginning my trial run with my hair for the wedding. The wedding is in March. My stylist sewed the weave in last night, and so far so good. I have worn extensions before (2006), but it's been awhile. Anyway, I purchased the Indian Wavy hair, so when I get the hair wet while in Turks it'll just be wavy- and still look decent hopefully. Here are some pics. I'll post some pics of how I usually wear my hair and how it is with the sew-in.

This is me working at a trade show in San Francisco last month.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
