Chocolate Brides: Hair Question

Recommended Posts

From what I hear the stylists at the resorts are very skilled with black hair my friend got married in Jamacia and swam for 3 days before her wedding and the stylist was able to wash press and create a very cute updo for her. Another bride getting married at the same resort as me in Mexico said the stylist put in the hair peice she brought with her....still scared though...shots.gif

My stylist left some of my own hair out in the front, sides, and back. We used Milky Way Saga premium 100% human hair (color 1B), 14â€. This hair is really good quality; it doesnâ€t tangle or shed much and it washes well. Iâ€ve washed it a couple of times already and I have had the hair in for close to three weeks now.

I had the hair style/makeup trial done in Miami, where we will be getting married. I think it turned out pretty good. But, I think I will go a little shorter on the hair weave (10†or 12â€) and will have my hair stylist in Atlanta leave a little more of my own hair out in the front for more volume. This was my first time having a sew-in.

My stylist is going to to some clip in pieces for me for free and is invited to the wedding, but she does not have her passport in hand and I walk down the aisle in 18 days!! Soooooo aggravating!
Congrats VDay!!! Dont forget about us...send a full HAIR report!!!

Hello, have no fear help is near...I'm currently natural I would suggest checking out Nappturality.com Everybody over there is natural and they even have a section that discusses doing natural hair with children. Everybody is real friendly and helpful. Good Luck!

Let me just say how happy I am that I found this thread. I know that I have a LONG way to go until my date, but this is something I've thought about since we decided on a wedding in the DR. I would love to do the Nia Long style for the reception and the Tyra Banks style shown earlier for the ceremony. I can't afford to pay for my stylist to fly down and stay and I too am 100% natural with shoulder length hair. Has anyone gotten married at either Dreams Palm Beach or NH Real Arena hotel in Punta Cana? If so, did their stylist do your hair?

However, I am 100% natural and I don't want to relax my hair for the wedding. It took me 3 years to get my hair pass my shoulders!

Do you think I can pull off that style without relaxing my hair?
Hmm... I'm not sure about that. You would need to find someone that really knows how to do a good press with the straightening comb or a good flat iron. It really depends on the texture of your hair and how it reacts to humidity. I know my hair would frizz right up if it weren't relaxed.

Or you could try getting a full sew-in. Not sure how that would work for you since your natural hair is so long.

shortnsweet- what brand of hair did you use? I'm thinking remy saga (i believe that's milky way- don't know a ton about hair extensions though) but there's another brand that I've heard okay things about. Was wondering what you went with?

Can not decide if I will have my (natural, thick, and curly too boot) hair corn rowed in something intricate and wear a lace front on the 'important' days, or if I will do a sew in, or what. I'm leaning more towards sew in- but I want to swim!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
