I hope that shows up.

I like this style, I think it'll be sweat and heat friendly for the big day and last for pix. Plus it's relaxed and easy so I can do it myself and not stress out about someone possibly jacking me up.

You're right it's cosmetic. Weaves can be beautiful and fabulous looking and IMO are great for protecting your hair underneath and letting it rest easy while still looking to die for day to day. I'm not anti- wigs/weaves/extensions etc... Just like I'm not pro-natural hair only.... and I hope I didn't come off that way. I just mean what I said, that FOR ME, I PERSONALLY would feel fake wearing it.
And I agree totally on the makeup comparison, which is why I don't wear that on a day to day either. I feel like I have a mask on and I'm so... conscious of it...
Thank you for taking the time to clarify. I wasn't trying to say you were making a generalization at ALL. I really was saying what I did in the hopes that you might feel more comfortable if you just so happened to find an extension style that you liked someday. I felt bad that YOU would feel bad wearing your hair a certain way. I've seen a lot of black women be made to feel self conscious (from others) and I don't like the idea of anyone feeling bad doing whatever they feel like doing. Sounds like its a personal choice for you, and that's perfectly understandable. I'm a "froo froo" girl, and I like all the trappings (though not everyday just sittin around the house), so it's just yin and yang. I dislike earrings for some reason and don't wear them if I can help it, but thats just a wierd thing about me. lol Everything else is totally comfy for me.

I really am growing fond of that first style I posted...I really had my mind set on wearing my hair down for the ceremony, but ever since I saw that pic, I'm itching to see if I can pull it off. I think it's elegant without being severe or over done.....hmm...still marinating. I asked one of my BM's tonight and she said "perfect" so I'm trying to think on it without letting that influence my decision. hahaha! Shoulda never asked!

GregsBride (I really do need to start memorizing more names here), that style is soooooo glamorous. It's like...old Hollywood, very sophisticated. I really like it and it's almost the best of both worlds...not really an updo, but not completely down (and suffocating) either.

Oh! I also like the style Nia Long is wearing. Very luxurious...I've always envied her hair in every style I've ever seen her wear. She has amazing taste (sigh).

I just LOVE this..tuck a flower into the side and voila! This is my #1 choice for my wedding style so far.

I absolutely love this style... I still have no idea what I'm doing with my hair and the wedding is next month :0)

I'm hoping to go see a hair stylist next week...

Hi ladies. I love the hairs pics. Good looking out!!

I love the pic of Nia Long. That is so me. I love it, no fuss but still pretty and all it needs is a flower.

I also love the soft updo that BillysBride posted. Very soft and romantic looking.

I have no idea how to post pic or I would. I found a cute hairstyle that actress Gabriella Union wore in Neyo's video for Independent Woman.

You could save the fuss for your wedding day, and then go back to pulling it back the rest of the week...I think it just depends on what your hair does in that climate. What does it normally do during the summer? Lets start there and figure out a style that will let you be sassy but not have to deal with it too much!

Alot of times, hair does fine...it may not even be all that humid at the time of your stay!

Hey, another idea is to take a look at the weather averages for the town you'll be staying in. I know my sister came back from Isla, where I'm having my ceremony, a few months ago and said the humidity wasn't bad at all!

Normally, my hair does good in the summer. I have fine hair, not thick....when relaxed. The thing is since I've been natural I haven't really wore MY hair. Maybe for a month a couple months back but for the most part I've been wearing micros. I really didn't want to wear micros for the wedding. I would love it if I could have a style where none of my hair is being shown. That's why I was leaning towards a lace front. The invisible braids seem to be a perfect solution really but from what it sounds like my hair is too long for the invisible braids 'look' to work.

Oh a side note: Danyelle...aren't you the sweetest thing! Thank you for commenting on our website.

The pictures that I've seen are really cute! I don't want a super sleek look either. I would love something that's in between sleek and messy. If that makes sense. LOL I need to get an account somewhere so I can have a place to keep the hairstyles I love.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
