We had our rehersal dinner at la fondue...amazing!! very quiet atmosphere and food was great.

One of my regrets that day was not pinning pieces of my hair down...wind was crazy...if its windy, make sure you pin some of the top pieces down, you can cross them over and use a fancy pin.

Hi there,

Just wanted say hello, I'm so glad I came across this forum! I am from Vancouver, BC :) We're not getting married for a while... January 2012 to be exact but we thought we would start planning reeeally early! (Also buying a house in the spring of 2011 so lots of big things happening in the next 15 months) :D

It was a toss-up between Gran Bahia Principe Coba/Tulum and Grand Riviera/Sunset Princess and we've decided to go with the Grand Sunset Princess, and we are so excited!!

Looking forward to this whole experience :)

Cheers and happy planning to all the brides!

Hey Kristy and Lauren! Just sent Patricia the final forms! Im a little nervous I went with the wrong bouquet haha so many decisions to make!! We did decide to go with the Private Thai for our reception and Im hoping is worth every penny! I found really cute Koozies that say "To Have and to Hold" "To Keep Your Drink Cold" with two intertwind hearts and our names and wedding date for a favor! haha I thought a Kozzie was quite fitting! Hope to hear more of your planning!

Hello Everyone I was wondering if someone could help m.  We live in Canada and were thinking of doing the symbolic wedding and just get married by a JP here as it seems like a liitle more of a haslefro the legal wedding.   I was just wondering if anyone has done the Symbolic wedding ,and if Ir seemed like a real wedding? Also once you are down there is it hard to upgrade rooms?

That's what we ended up doing - the symbolic and then getting married here in Canada first. The symbolic ceremony totally felt like a real ceremony, we signed papers and everything!

Plus the officiant does the ceremony in English, when you do the legal ceremony in Mexico the judge speaks Spanish and then there is a translator. I think absolutely all 40 guests had no idea we only did the symbolic ceremony!

Our rooms were automatically upgraded for my whole group without us even asking. My Husband and I were even upgraded to a Platinum suite for free. I think we were upgraded because we booked so far in advance - If you leave it till when you are actually there you're risking the fact that they may be at full capacity and unable to change anyone. We had surprise last minute guests and they were unable to book at our resort because there were not any rooms free at all, so they had to stay at an adjacent resort and we had to pay the day pass for them to come to the wedding.

Hope this helps a bit!!!

Hi everyone!  I got married at the Grand Sunset Princess on 8-9-10 and before we went, I used this website to guide me!  I remembered how worried I was about all the details (decor, music, food, cake, etc). So, I thought I would let everyone know that I have pictures if you would like to see the Symbolic Ceremony (we legally got married in the US before we went and no one will ever know!), it was much cheaper than the other ceremonies and included basically the same stuff.  There was a centerpiece for the table where the minister is at and two large flower pieces hanging from the gazebo that match, I wasn't aware that those were being included with my package, but they were great!  Of course, the linens and chair covers are included.  The only thing that you will see in the pictures that was not included were the straw fans that I made, which in hindsight weren't a big deal, but they added a good touch.  We had picked out our music before and saved it on an iPhone.  However, right before the ceremony the DJ realized that their plug in didn't fit it, but they had back up music and I wish now that I wouldn't have stressed out before the wedding about the silly stuff.  They had microphones set up to read vows with (which were handed to you on a card to read aloud... I was worried about this bc I was afraid I wouldn't be able to understand the minister haha... but again, it turned out WONDERFUL).  Our wedding was at 4:00 and our dinner was at 6:00, it gave us time for pictures and things!  We ate at La Fondue and it was AMAZING! By far one of the best meals that we ate at the resort.  They brought COMPLIMENTARY cocktails and wine (on the sheet the wedding coordinator sends you, it says that there are cork fees, etc and that never was an issue).  We have pictures of the cake and everything that came with the package (we did not pay for anything extra through the hotel).  Just message me your e-mail address if you would like for me to send you pictures, we have tons (We brought a family member along to take pictures). I hope I can be as much help as possible, I usually don't "blog", but I figured I could offer all of you some valuable information!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
