Yes it does take come time to get a response from the hotel/. My last email was in august until i received one yesterday. I was not happy with the email that i received. I was basically told that everything my last WC told me is not allowed. Im not happy. I wish that they would have told me from the start that we are not allowed to have outside vendors. I have now booked and paid for the DJ and my make up artist and im being told now that its not allowed. I sent a bit f a nasty email yesterday hoping that Emma can understand my frsuteration.

With regards to the packages and the yes and no that they give you. Im sticking to the royalty package just because the cost for all of it on there won is the same price. And i like that the cake is a cake for 40, there is a massage included, the ironing of our garments and the other things, but i see where your coming from. I thought the same way..why pay for it if your not going to use it.

I sent another email today hoping that they will eventually reply. I asked if we could have our a la carte meal as a welcome dinner since we are doing a private reception on the beach and they said you cannot. So know I want to lower my package from the royalty to the cheapest and just pay for the extras. I dont see why I should be paying for a full package when you are only using half of it... I have talked to dealt with multiple people when it comes to pricing (not by choice but the same person never replys to my emails). I'm not worried about how the wedding or planning is going to be turning out but I dont really want to be arriving in Mexico without having an idea of what the costs are going to be...

Emma was fabulous .  Many of our details were not worked out until we arrived but everything fell into place.  I only hathed two unexpected expenses....$200 for the photographer if I wanted to buy all of the photos taken and $100 to have the marriage certificated translated.

The food was great and the service was excellent.  Very friendly people!

We stayed in the platnium suites (rm 4209).  It was a partial ocean view and we were extremely happy with the room.

I did have my hair and make up done while I was there.  I was really happy with my make up but my hair didn't turn out as I had wanted.  It still looked great but communication was an issue because she didn't speak english very well.

Yes, equipment was provided to play a CD at the ceremony however they had an issue playing the one we brought.  The music was loud enough for everyone to hear.

I took a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like however I didn't do a trial run here before I went.  When I got there the hairdresser said she couldn't do the style because my hair was too short so we had to improvise.  It turned out ok but it wasn't what I envisioned.  Communication was a challenge due to the language barrier.

The flowers were amazing!  Very vibrant but not very fragrant.

We used the cocktail hour immediately following our wedding ceremony.  Since the ceremony was short (20 minutes) the cocktail hour added to the event.  The location was on the beach as we used the Riviera Gazebo for the ceremony.  Yes there was a bartender and everyone had fun posing for pictures and sipping cocktails.

Re your welcome dinner.  I was told the same thing however when I did the same thing (told them I wanted to downgrade) and they agreed to the welcome dinner.  We had it a La Fondue on our second night there and it was fabulous.

we will have our ceremony at 3 pm

our diner is a 6pm

guest...

the thing is we already took the open bar for the afterparty and since we are 40 people its getting expensive.....

we dont need a private place.... just a placewhere we can hang out near a bar on the resort.....

Thanks everyone for the replys.

Even if they say they are going to throw in the welcome dinner if I want to downgrade I will still probably downgrade because $2500 for 40 people and the package isnt comparable to $500 for 20 people and all the extra's. I mean throw in the extra $12pp for extra people and few extra bucks pp for the cake to be up to 40 people. Put in another few hundred bucks if you wanted to get a couples massage etc. Some of the people that are coming with us are hair stylists so they are doing everyones hair so we arent worried about that. In all honesty with everything in that package we want to pay as extra's I cant see if costing me anything over $1200.

I also emailed the email for emma and I havent recieved a reply from that.

Thank you for all your stories and advice..i really appricaite it. It makes me feel alot better.

Im still going to fight on having a makeup artist come into the hotel..nobody told me is was not allowed until now and its too late its already booked. He can be considered a guest at my wedding.

And im glad we have choosen to do the cocktail hour follwing the ceremony, your right it prob does add to the event.

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
