Hi Nov2013maya,

I used the hair and make-up services, both of which were provided by a gentleman named Fran who was fabulous! I showed him some photographs of what I wanted for my hair (on a computer so I could zoom in) and he did it perfectly. My only suggestion is to advise that you'd like your makeup to look natural. Someone posted that suggestion on this board before I was married, and it was great advice! I wanted a little bit of eye makeup with red lips, and Fran wanted to put black eye-liner on the upper and lower lids as well (to him I guess that was natural). He was really easy to communicate with though, and was happy to oblige and refrain from putting too much on.

I would recommend using the spa services.

Good luck!

Koren

This is such a good source of information when you have no clue what's going to happen the moment you get there, our wedding is in October 25, 2013 and still trying to figure out what kind of reception we would have. If the cocktail beach party is only $35/person we might do it. Sounds fun!!! I guess I'll have to ask my WC  the current prices though.

Thanks so much for sharing. I am going to buy some primer and foundation to bring just in case they can't match my skin tone and I will have to hope for the best. I do want to look natural in my pics - just more polished. Has anyone hired a mobile makeup artist that comes to the room? Do you know if this is even allowed?? Just have to find my photographer and then I am set. Just got confirmation of wedding date today. Dec 3rd, 2013 at sunset gazebo :D yeahhhhh

My wedding is on Oct. 25th and I am using their photographer and the makeup/hair services... for what I've seen they do a really good job on it. You just have to explain them what's exactly what you need for your big day. I am so excited!!!!

ashofswed,

I've been putting some thought into OOT bags. I'm not going bonkers like some brides who spend $50 per bag and fill it with stuff people don't need or want, but I do want to do a mini bag with a few things folks might forget and one signature item.

On discountmugs.com, they sell the knock-off Tervis tumblers. I'm going to order those and then use a friend's cricut machine to put everybody's name on them. Dual purpose: Acts as a name tag so when guests who don't know each other see another guest with a matching cup, they will know they are part of our group, plus, it's a great way to keep either water or your drinks cool while at the pool or beach. :) And, of course, it is something they can take home and use.

I'll probably go to the dollar store and throw some other things in there like chapstick (even if you brought one, who can't use another), a packet of aspirin, etc.

Nov2013maya,

I would highly recommend using Del Sol Photography! We used them and they were awesome! One of the big perks is that you can purchase prints from them, or print them yourself when you get home -- they courier you a thumb drive with all of your photos on it. :)

Cheers,

Koren

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
