Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! :)

We're getting married at the Grand Riviera Princess on April 28th 2010.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the DJ options for regular music (for example, if we wanted songs from an Ipod)? Also, do any of you know of a photographer that is reasonably priced? We're trying to stay budget-conscious, while still getting the most out of our day!

Not really sure what to expect... Although, after reading some of the comments and reviews on here, I definitely feel good about our choice! :)

I have been told the DJ is set up with a mac book, so I don't whay you wouldn't be able to bring down your ipod and have him play some songs from it :) One of the wedding coordinators should be able to have that question answered for you.

As for the photographer, we aren't having one so I can't help you there. I do know that you have to pay a fee for them to come on to the property. The resort has their own photographer. I am not sure if he/she is any good. From what I understand, they take pictures of your wedding, and then give you the option of purchasing them. If we go this route, I will let you know how the pics turn out. But we have enough people in our group that take fantastic pictures, so we are mostly relying on them. Cutting out the photog has allowed us to afford the beach party :)

Ladies....what did everyone do or plan to do when it comes to room choice. I just got the price for upgrades and I'm on the fence with what to do. Part of me says....how much time do you actually spend in the room? The other part says....it's my wedding/honeymoon, an upgrade is a must - not to mention a bigger room would be great for greating ready with the girls day of!

I was in the same boat as you about 4 months ago :) We decided not to upgrade because we know we won't be spending anytime in the room except when we are sleeping. We also are skimping wherever we can because money has gotten tighter and tighter since we got engaged and we wanted to be able to do the beach party.

I say if money isn't really an issue, splurge!! You have a really good point about getting ready that day. You could also ask for a free upgrade when you get down there...that is my plan. I will let you know how it goes!

When we were there, I was upgraded. The bride got ready in a normal room however. I will say, it was a lot smaller than our room, and I did offer our room to get ready in instead. However, it worked just fine.

The big difference is the seating area and the bathroom. Our bathroom was larger and had a sliding window so you could get natural light in there (for putting on makeup and such, but also so everyone can be part of the getting ready process).

So, do you have to upgrade, definitely not. Was it larger... yes. If you have a large bridal party, then I'd seriously consider it. But if it's a lot more expensive, it might not be worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
