Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Valerie,

I'm sure you are super excited to be leaving in 10 days! Are you all set and ready to go? How many people do you have going? Are you doing the private beach reception or the al a carte? Which photographer are you using? Are you getting your hair and makeup done at the resort? I hope you do a review of it all when you get back.

Tiffany

Hi Llama,

My suggestion is to shop around and in the 'Mexican Spirit', barter with a few different travel agents.
I sent a general email out to a few different agents in my area stating the resort I wanted to book at and the price point I was willing to pay. When I started getting quotes back I would forward the lowest quote out to the other agents asking them to beat it, and so and so forth...In the end, we ended up getting upgraded to Junior Deluxe suites and free first class upgrades for my fiance and I for $1652.25 all taxes and fees included ($1350 before taxes) departing out of Vancouver.

Hope this helps!

Hi Tiffany!

I am definetly getting really excited! It's coming up so quick! We are basically all ready to go... a couple of lil things left but nothing major... we're just really excited at this point!

We have a group of 34 people coming down with us and no, I am not doing the private beach reception, we booked an A La Carte dinner, we just didn't think it was worth it for the cost (it's about $80 or $90 USD per person now...)

For the photographer, I am actually bringing down my own photographer... I am paying for his trip and he is doing all my pictures for free all week so it was a really good deal considering the price they charge down there for a photographer. Just for the ceremony and a few pictures on the beach (not the getting ready in morning or dinner or first dance or anything) they charge over $1100 USD + taxes! Considering the trip was only $1300 taxes in, it's definetly worth it and then we'll have GREAT pictures all week including some on the beach and at the rehersal dinner, and getting ready in the morning and pictures all night of the wedding with the first dance and all! And he's gonna give me all the CD with all the pictures so I can print whatever I want ;-)

For makeup and hair, I'm gonna do my own makeup but I'm gonna get my hair done over there... Apparently they are pretty good, just make sure that you bring pictures to show what you want because they don't really speak english.... But I'll let you know when I get back how it went and I'll post some pictures!

I'll do a review on my return to let you girls knwo how everything went!

I booked with itravel2000.com and we got it for $1300 per person taxes and fees included. The prices vary depending on when you want to go... depending if it's during peak season or not.

The wedding packages for 2009 are around $1500 to $2000 USD depending on what you are looking for. Let me know if you want me to send you more info.
Wow! SO close now! You must be so excited!! I would love for you to send me the packages, and also if you have time when you get back, would love to see your pics, here about the wedding, which package you chose etc!!

And awesome price! I looked on itravel right after you replied. The sunset side seems to be way more reasonable than the riviera side...do you have any idea why?

It sure does! What a great idea! I've also been told we should wait a few months to book because the wedding is still nine months away.

If you don't mind me asking, how many guests do you have going and what package did you chose?

TarynLynn,

I am pretty new to all of this, so I am not sure but here is an idea as to why this may be happening. I have read somewhere, either in one of the threads or on a hotel website that some resorts won't book the wedding until closer to the date (6-9 months). Possibly they arent' taking reservations yet, or don't have the authority to charge your card yet...?

Hope this helps! Also, who is your contact at the resort. I have Diana's email and she has been great so far...

Hello Val - can you email me the packages to annieanddaryl@gmail.com. I just want to do Renewal of Vows which I believe is $800, but I need to clarify this...

Thanks!

Have you customised your package a bit? Because I know that the vow renawal package doesn't include a cake or a photographer.. I was thinking of bringing my own photographer (pay for his trip and he does the pictures for "free") But I would still like to have a cake and maybe some extra decorations... Have you had a chance to look into any "extras" available?

Thanks

Hi ladies,

So I have just spent hours reading through the whole thread and noticed that several of you on here have been married at the GSP and are willing to email wedding photographs! If anyone of you is reading this, would you mind sending me some! It is such a gorgeous resort, but I am having a hard time envisioning my wedding day...I'm hoping some of your pics might help!

My email is

woolly007@hotmail.com

Thanks so much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
