quick question to the ladies...do any of you know the if the max number allowed for the dinner reception to be held at one of the a-la-carte restaurants it 20 people? that's what i'm understanding from the paperwork and that if there are more than 20 people you have to pay for a private event. could someone please confirm or tell me otherwise! thanks :)

Thank you
I think they only do group dinners for weddings at 6pm and 9pm because they have to prepare for such a large crowd. Do you have your wedding time confirmed? I requested a 5pm ceremony time and on the paperwork Damary's sent me is says they will request like 2pm or something. I think it depends on the schedule of the person performing the ceremony.

For dinners in the a la carte restaurants. The first 20 people are included in the package any others are $10 a person. I had 25 people and it wasn't a problem. The dinners are at 6 or 9 because they try to keep the restaurants fairly empty. I was originally supposed to get married at 4 but changed the ceremony to 3. 3:00 gave us lots of time for champagne after the ceremony and pictures. If you call they can probably change your time. If your getting married in November I would be worried about getting married at 6 because of daylight. I was married in January and we were losing daylight by 5 or 5:30.

Oh thanks for clearing up that 20 people dinner question in ala cartes...i was wondering the same thing!!

Hey when you ladies reserved your date did you have to tell them which side you wanted the wedding at (sunset/riviera)?

I dont remember them ever asking or me specifying upon paying deposit.....

Also for you ladies who recently got married- If you have any pics of your recent wedding to see set-ups of ceremony/reception etc id love to see. Im still a little nervous about my wedding here and i think that seeing some pics of weddings might let me sleep better at night. thanks in advance! suntansam@gmail.com

Hey everyone,

I'm almost done all the planning for my wedding, so here's what I know...you can have more than 20 people attend your wedding, it's just an additional $$ for things like dinner, champagne toasts and wedding cake per additional person and it's about $10 per item you'd like to add. Also, yes the 2 reception options are 6pm and 9pm.

Hope this helps!

Has anyone been to or done the beach reception? Thats what we're doing with the buffet meal, dj and dance. I havent heard many reviews on that and would be interested to know others experiences.

Also how much time did you spend picking things out and going over final details before the wedding day?

Did anyone do the actual legal ceremony with the blood test and all?

Im diving in head first and not too sure what to expect!! two more months though and I'll be posting pics :)

SUNTANSAM I believe their isnt actually an option to choose sides, its the same options for both sides but if anyone knows better please correct me :)

I will be SO curious to see if you get any responses. I'm having the beach reception as well and have not received any feedback so far. If you do hear anything, will you please pass it on to me? I can't wait to hear about your experience in a few months! Have you received the "Bride Guide" or something from Damarys replacement? Someone on here was talking about that and I've requested it, but haven't received it yet. If you have it, would you mind passing it along? Thanks!

I haven't heard anything about the "Bride Guide" I'd love to get a copy of that also.

On another note, the resort dropped their prices. Our travel agent was able to save us $150 per 7-nights per room based on double occupancy. If you ladies haven't booked you might want to check that out. And for those of you who have maybe there is something your travel agent can do to help you out. Usually the travel agents can only drop your rate if you purchased the travel insurance but sometimes there are ways around it.

The meeting with the wedding coordinator is only about 20 minutes. You just quickly go through all of your choices. You don't have a choice of sides of the resort. It really is one resort. Everything is shared except the the reception/check in areas are seperate. The gazebo location I guess you would say is on the Riviera side. But once again everything is shared.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
