Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

Hello PrincessVal :)

So I was also told that all the white fabric, etc was not included and we had opted against doing it for that reason - to our suprise when we arrived there, our on-site coordinator Diana told us it was standard and we didnt' pay anything.

As for picking and confirming all the details - I had done it beforehand, but they make you pick it all out again when you get there anyways, so I wouldn't worry about it - you dont even see Damarys or speak to her once you get there - so by not responding she causes us brides some unnecessary stress :) Don't worry, you're wedding will be perfect! wink.gif PIcs are on their way!

Roxyk05 - thanks - it was wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing!

The menu part stressed me out a bit as well!! We picked the Hacienda in the end as we could get the fajitas with chicken, beef and shrimp - so that people who didn't like fish or didn't eat beef or whatever the situation was could still enjoy their supper! It turned out to be a hit and there was so much food and it was all so good! Personally, we tried the Seafood and MISO a la cartes, and I think the consensus of the group (who tried all the a la cartes in the end) was that the Hacienda and the Fondue were the two best ones - the thing with Fondue though is that its a very slow process :) Seafood was probably my least favourite - I didn't eat the salmon, but I heard that was good though! At MISO, the turkey dish of all things seemed to be the favourite :)

One other thing we were worried about with the a la carte was that it wouldn't be private - but they put us in the back away from everyone so we did have privacy for the group which was so nice!

Hope this helps!!!

I was also given the white tulle gazebo decorations for free. The gazebo was set up when I got there for another wedding and I asked the wedding coordinator if they were standard and she said yes. That is one of the reasons I switched from the beach back to the arch. We ate in Le Fleur for our reception and it was excellent. I tried all the restaurants except for the seafood while I was there. My 2 favororite would be Le Fleur and Miso. They set the table up at the back of the room and it felt like a private reception. There was only one other table of 2 in the whole restaurant and they were at the far end. We had 25 people and the set the table up in a "u" shape which created a head table.

Hi Courtney and Tinaczar!

First of all, congrats again to both of you and thanks so much to both of you for the info! We all really appraciate it!!!!!!!!!!!! Your weddings really seem to have gone perfectly!

I'm really glad to hear about the free white veils on the gazebo because I was ready to pay for it :-) So I won't pay and I'll make my arrangements once I get there....

I'm very happy to hear that you had a good set up at the Le Fleur restaurant because that's the one I chose to do the reception dinner... Did you meet with the restaurant manager the night before to requst the U shape table arragement? What did they use for center pieces? Did they use the flowers from the gazebo or did you have to buy extra ones? Did you have to preselect itmes on the menu or could everyone choose what they wanted to eat?

How did it work for your hair? Did you girls make an appointment at the hair salon at the resort? If so, did you make it ahead of time with Damary or did you just book once you got there? Did you go for a tryout before or was it just good on the day of?

Thanks again so much for all your insights!

Hey Valerie - I didnt' have to meet with the restaurant people before, but we didnt' have a U shape at our dinner - I'm sure though if you ask the wedding coordinator at the hotel when you get there, it wont' be a problem wink.gif

At the a la cartes, my understanding is you have to pick a set menu for the whole group - that's why I did the Mexican, b/c I had beef, chicken and shrimp -that way everyone was happy!

The table decorations were the ones off the gazebo, which were beautiful!

As for my hair - I am pretty lucky that my sister is a hairdresser, so I can't tell you about the hotel salon, but I've read other reviews that have said that they did a good job

Hope that helps - the on-site wedding coordinators there are so great, you wont' have to worry about a thing!

I asked the wedding coordinator during our meeting to set the table up in a "U" shape. They used the flowers from the gazebo. If you send me your email I'll email you a pic of the set up. We had to choose a set menu. The food was amazing, we had the beef with chocolate soulle. Which is steak with chocolate souffle. The egg foie gras for an appetizer, pumpkin soup and petit fours for dessert. They were all really good. I booked a hair appointment when I got down there but I wasn't there at a busy time. I know Damarys likes to book it a week before you arrive. I didn't have a trial just took pics of exactly what I wanted. She did a really good job. She doesn't speak english well so definitely take pics.

Courtney,

I am getting married on the Riviera side. I am assuming their policies and procedures are the same. One thing I am confused about is how the reception thing works. Do you have to pay for it? From looking at the information they gave, it appears we have to pay. Was your reception dinner free? Also, I would love to see pictures of your wedding. Can you send them to me? diva4life@gmail.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
