Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I'm currently in planning mode for this resort too. At first Damarys will tell you flat out 'no outside photographers', but I kept pestering her after hearing of others that have had outside photographers at the resort and here was her reply... "The Hotel policy does not allowed outside photographers, and the photographers that have come show up on the same day and we should let them in paying a day pass of $70.00 USD per person and it is valid for 8 hours, dinner or private receptions are not included."

I also asked about if the photographer stays at the resort as a guest, and she said it would "not be a problem".

Hope this helps!

Hey everyone!!

Just wanted to give you a rundown on the wedding - absolutely wonderful!! I was worried beforehand with some of the negative reviews on the resort itself, but we had no problems and our group of 27 had a wonderful time!

Diana was our coordinator (Sunset side) and was so helpful!

We got married at the gazebo, and the standard decorations were gorgeous with the flowers and white tulling. All the bouquets were gorgeous and I was able to change the colour ribbon for each of the bouquets since all the bridesmaids were a different colour! They have a CD player and speakers for when you walk down the aisle which is loud enough for everyone to hear. As well there is a microphone that is used during the ceremony so all the guests can hear!

After the ceremony we had dinner at La Hacienda (Mexican) and the food was wonderful and the staff did an excellent job -it couldn't have been better!

The sunset lobby was so busy after dinner (8pm) that we decided that we didnt' want to do our dance in front of the couple hundred people in the area - a little shy perhaps :) After the dinner, we went up to the lobby bar where we pulled enough table and chairs together, and Anthony took care of us the whole night - a wonderful man! We also managed to do a bouquet toss there an everyone had a wonderful time. Originally, we had booked the private reception, but decided against it in the end - and we're glad we did - we had just as much fun on our own! :) The wedding ended up being $870USD (we paid $10/pp extra for the dinner over 20ppl) Plus, it gets chilly at night and most of us moved into the Sports Bar and then Disco when the temps started to drop! Its totally personal preference though, and I am sure that the private reception would be beautiful as well!

That's all I have - I have a few pics if anyone wants, I can email them of the gazebo, flowers, etc.

No worries about your weddings everyone - its absolutely perfect and all taken care of when you get there!

Hi Tinaczar!

One quick question... so the white veils are included aas standard decorations on the Gazebohuh.gif? I was told by Damarys that it was an extra $340 USD....

By the way, I'm getting married on the sunset side on April 29th 2009 so I wrote an email to Damarys to confirm my final flower and cake choices and she hasn't replyed in almost 3 weeks.... is she still around? Did you pick your stuff once you got down there or had you picked it before you left?

I would love to see pictures too! Can you please email me some at [email protected]. Thanks!

Hi Tinaczar!

First of all, Congratulations and a big "THANK YOU" for sharing your wedding experience with us all!

I would love for you to send me the pics if possible. My email is: [email protected]

My question for you is regarding the reception menu. I've been told that you have to choose a set menu for the whole group. What menu items did you choose and how was your meal? Did you get a chance to eat at any of the other ala carte restaurants and if so can you recommend any specific dishes? This so far is one of my biggest struggles with the planning process.

Thank you,

Roxane

Hey there nscheatham! I picked the BASIC renewal of vows package and we did the legal part back here in Canada as there are just a bunch of pesky things that you need to get done to have it legally in Mexico - the thing is they do the vow renewal ceremony exactly as a marriage ceremony - the exchange of vows, rings, "I dos" and the kiss at the end - we even got a marriage certificate at the end of it - though its not legally binding, it was really nice to have it that way since we didn't take the legal ceremony back here in Canada to mean much to us other than it was a legality :) I'm sending pics shortly - let me know if you have any other questions! Tina

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
