Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

Colleen, I just got back an email from the WC there with a ton of attachments of menu's, and a bunch of other wedding options. I can forward it to you if you like. As far as if this is THE thread, I hadn't seen another one so I started this one just asking a question awhile back ago, but have loved talking with everyone on this one! If there is another thread about GSP let me know, but otherwise this is it! :)

(For everone...) How many people are yall having at your weddings? I am just at the beginning stages of planning and am actually mailing out my save the dates tomorrow! It is getting exciting to start the planning process. What are yall thoughts on bridesmaid dresses?

Hi guys! I really like Grand Sunset Princess and I'm hoping to make a site visit next month. Just wondering, was anyone considering any other resorts? And how did you decide on GSP? Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!

There are so many resorts that I'm getting overwhelmed with the research and I'm having a hard time narrowing them down! smile105.gif

So many things to respond to...I love it! :)

Ashleigh: I would SO appreciate you forwarding me the stuff you have - that would be great! In terms of bridesmaid dresses, I'm having my girls wear a casual, but super cute summery cotton strapless dress from JCrew. They were ridiculously cheap, but look great and they'll actually be able to wear them again...everyone wins. :)

Courtney: I was under the impression that the gazeebo was the only choice! Would you mind sending me the pictures of the other options?

Sczhen: I've loved GSP from the get-go because: 1) It's brand new so it's beautiful; 2) It's close to the airport (unlike somewhere like Tulum) and in a great city (Playa Del Carmen); 3) The rooms and resort in general is classic and chic - they don't scream MEXICO (e.g., no yellow walls and bright red comforters); 4) The prices are amazing compared to other high-end resorts; 5) I've heard lots of positive feedback. I'm sure I'm missing things, but those are some of the top reasons.

Everyone: Ashleigh mentioned save-the-dates and I was wondering how much information are you all including in them? I know people are going to want passport information and info on the resort, but I don't know how much of that is typical to include in the save-the-date...thoughts? Also I was curious about what you guys were doing in terms of the reception...lemme know!

As far as location, I am having a beach ceremony. I am having my main color be a turquoise/pool color and I really want the ocean as the back drop of my pictures. Demarys told me that was fine and I could choose what type of flower arrangment I wanted. I love the canopy too, but Courtney I agree! For $560 every inch of that thing should be covered in flowers! :)

SCZhen...I choose the GSP because for the following reasons. Mainly because of the great things I have heard about it. My TA is a family member so I trust her completely and she has sent several groups there without any major problems...service was great, beautiful resort, good food for AI. And second because of the price for what you get. Having the majority of my guest coming from Dallas, TX the flight isn't long at all and so the price with airfare and hotel was much better for my guest, and us, than other resorts I have looked at.

Colleen, I love the J Crew idea! I hadn't even thought of going that route. I defintley want my girls in matching dresses but a traditional BM dress seemed like too much for this type of wedding! Thanks for the suggestion!

As far as save the dates...Mine were informative but vauge at the same time. They are passport books (look just like real passports!) and the pages of info look just like the pages you get stamped in your passport. So I let people know about the resort, travel info and a vauge itenerary. But all my specifics are on my web page. That way ppl will get the STD and then go to my website for more info. I literally just dropped them of at the post office today. I cant wait for ppl to start calling my TA and booking! If you want to see my save the date I can forward the final proof, just let me know!

Colleen and SG137 could you send me or PM your email addresses so I can just forward the email from Demarys to you? Be sure and check your junk mail in case your spam blocker gets it. It will come form my wedding email at [email protected]

This is cheesy, but I love getting to talk to everyone about this stuff! I dont know about yall but my fiance doesn't get as excited about the little things like I do, so its nice to get to talk to girls who are going through the experience too! Espcially the exact same resort! bride.gif

I Courtney! I don't know what "pm me" means (still trying to learn this lingo!! :)), but I'm hoping a QR will work, haha. My email is [email protected]. Thanks so much!

Hi Ashleigh and everyone!

Ashleigh I totally love your save-the-date idea! My fiance was thinking about designing an airplane ticket, but I love the passport idea as well...I would love to see it! Where did you get them printed?

In terms of the beach wedding, does that mean that you'll actually get married on the sand? That's what I want, but again, I thought I had to do the gazeebo thing. Are you going to have the arch in the sand then? Would love to hear more about that.

And I hear ya about being excited and this being a great forum for that energy. I haven't been super excited until now. It was pretty stressful trying to narrow down places and just nailing down the date. But now that all that's done, it just seems fun! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
