Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

We did our grand entrance at the restaurant. I don't think we were suppose to ...but we did anyways. As far as the beach reception went, we made a lay out of the 3 hours and gave it to our MC. He did a good job making sure everything stayed on time. You are kind of on your own at the reception so I would definitely recommend asking someone to be your MC.

We got most of the time consuming stuff done in the first 30-40 mins (First dance..daughter/father dance...speeches).  We threw the rest in randomly in between dancing. And the other stuff doesn't very long...cake cutting takes 5 minutes...garter/bouquet toss takes 5 mins.

Hahah no worries I just wanted to make sure that Robynn saw you were asking her questions :)

We expect similar group sizes then! It's nice to hear from other bride to bes who have larger sizes (of course things change as the actual RSVPs come in, but we imagine at least 45!) because the larger size party can create some interesting "challenges" lol.

International buffet, where would this be? Are you planning for La Fondue, like Robynn did?

When I contacted the resort about the size of our group and the dinner (which is includd in the packages), she indicated that the regular restaurants can't accomodate groups larger than 40.

Robyn,

Your info is very helpful, thanks!

What I am confused about is why your beach reception didn't include dinner as well? I have a document from the resort that says for a beach reception for $85 per person, you get it for 4 hours and get to pick from several buffet options. I didn't realize you could do a beach reception without food. Ugh, there are so many options and it seems like everyone gets different information from the resort. :/

We are going to have about 40-50 people.

They call it a Beach Cocktail. If that is what you want, just ask your WC for pricing on a Beach Cocktail Reception with NO food. They will then send you a price list for the bar which includes the location on the beach, bar tables and the set up.

Yes you can have a beach reception without food. They call it Beach Cocktail (I think) lol. Just ask your WC for the pricing on a beach reception with no food. She should send you a price list for different types of bars to choose from. This price includes the bar, beach set up, and bar tables.

We didn't want to spend $85 per person for the reception with the food. It was $33 per person to do the reception without.

Hello! stbKeras you made my day lol I have been eagerly awaiting to hear about recent brides/bride to be's experience with this option (ie. regular restaurant dinner then going to  3 hr reception for dancing)

Do you mind me asking you a few q's about your wedding details/how the day was planned out? I can PM you or discuss here if you want. Thanks again for your help!

Hi everyone,

Just wondering from the people who have had their weddings, what you tipped, or if you tipped, the wedding coordinator & private bar tenders etc.?  We are getting married there in 6 weeks so want to make sure we have enough cash set aside.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
