Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

HI we choose from the a la carte as there were only 9 of us for the meal most of us choose the beef and it was delicious everyone agreed it was the nicest meal we had at the resort. How many of you are there? As they have rooms off the main restaurant and it makes the reception really private, this is what we did and it was great xx They also take your flowers to the reception area and it looks wonderful x Emma will go through all your choices with you when you arrive and you can change them if you want I changed my flowers and music the day before the wedding and everything went fab fab fab xx

CONGRATS! Im so glad to hear that everything worked out for you. Im sure that helps put us all at ease.

How far into your trip did u meet with Emma? Did you have to request and set up the meeting yourself, or did she get in touch with you.

I was thinking of calling her because im wanting to book a DJ and different brides are being told and some are being told No that they cant have an outside DJ come. Was Emma easy to get along with??

What room did you stay in?

Did the resort give you guys any extras?

We arrived on the Sunday and on Monday morning a silver folder was delivered to our room with a time to meet Emma that morning, met her that morning and we went through all our choices with her and confirmed everything. I found Emma really easy to get along with....... We had a free room upgrade when we got there and also our guests also had a free room upgrade so everyone was really happy lol We had things like bathrobes and our room was decorated nearly every night, on our wedding day we had champayne delivered to the room for the night and again they decorated the room.  It was fab, really wish I could do it all again and I wouldn't change a thing about it..... xxxx

Haven't had my wedding pics yet as soon as i get them i'll post some, if you want to add me on facebook as I have my holiday pics on there my e-mail is samantha_785@fsmail.net or Samantha Williams-Hughes xxxx We had a welcome dinner at Mamma Mia first time we went there wasn't that impressed but on the welcome night the food was delicious (maybe a different chef on the welcome night) Didn't use the resort DJ as we were a small party we went to the plaza where they play live music and we had our first dance there with everyone watching us..... x Really enjoyed being centre of attention lol x

The resort is lovely and soooo clean everywhere we went someone was cleaning and the staff are sooo friendly always saying hola when they pass you xxx We also went to Coco Bongos in Playa that was fantastic if you have a large party going with you and you want to do a bachelerette out there with your friends and family then I would suggest going here it was amazing I've never been to anything like it lol xxx

So i have just received an email from Emma who now is telling me that im not allowed to brings outside vendors in (makeup artist and DJ) when i have already booked and paid for them! I wasnt told i was not allowed. And I have emails indicating to her all the vendors i was planning using and there was nothing said. I dont know what to do. I have an email that im about ready to send but it a little nasty. They said that I am allowed to have a phtographer and a photobooth but not a make up artist or DJ??.. What is with that?? I can get over th DJ but my makeup artist needs to be there. Also, I was told about an area that i can use for our cocktail hour (La plaza) ) and now im being told that i can still use that area but it will be shared with other guests and wont be private! Any advice?

Hi - The plaza is not private at all, it is where everyone goes to have drinks and there is a live band there, we went here after our reception meal as we were quite happy with it not being private and we enjoyed everyone coming up to us to congratulate us and they all clapped when we walked in!!!! I personally loved it lol but if you want a private cocktail hour then this isn't private..... I used the resort's make up artist as it was included in my package (Magical package) and I was really happy with it so I didn;t request anything like that nor did I request a DJ but if you have confirmation that they have said yes to you having a DJ and make up artist then I would pursue this with Emma....... The only outside vendor we brought in was photographer and videographer.....

What email are you guys using to get with Emma? The last person I dealt with was an Angelina... Our wedding is December 8th and we havent recieved a reply from the hotel since August 30th. I sent another email today hoping that they will eventually reply. I asked if we could have our a la carte meal as a welcome dinner since we are doing a private reception on the beach and they said you cannot. So know I want to lower my package from the royalty to the cheapest and just pay for the extras. I dont see why I should be paying for a full package when you are only using half of it... I have talked to dealt with multiple people when it comes to pricing (not by choice but the same person never replys to my emails). I'm not worried about how the wedding or planning is going to be turning out but I dont really want to be arriving in Mexico without having an idea of what the costs are going to be...

Thanks for letting me know about La plaza, i think that im just going to with the cocktail hour after the ceremony so that our guests and ourselve cant take pics together while having a drink. Im not to worried about those types of things, its more the point that i wasnt told that i couldnt have outside vendors come in when i have already booked them. But im sure it will all work out. I sent Emma a bit of a nasty email yesterday but also indicating that i know its not her fault. Hopefully she will see where im coming from and just stick to what I was told I could do.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
