Thank you so much for your review and info on your wedding. I have been juggling with the decision of where to book my upcoming wedding but I keep coming back to the Grand sunset princess. I recieved some info from the resort but I am still a bit confused with the wedding packages. does it work out ok having the time limits on the reception? does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of reception to go for. I am really laid back and dont mind making my own reception anywhere we can find music But can that work?

We leave in just 2 short weeks! Final dress fitting tomorrow, and everything will be pretty much ready to go. I will let you all know how everything goes, I am so excited for the Thai Beach Reception!! Wish me luck!!

Hey Ladies,

 

I was wondering for those of you who have been down to the GSP resort and area, what currency you travelled with. We received notification from our travel agent that they are not accepting American bills. For those Canadian Brides who have been down to the area recently can you please advise what currency you brought?

 

 

I would prefer to travel with American as Peso's accumulate into a large amount when you start bringing hundreds of dollars.

 

Also, are there any brides who bank with Royal Bank of Canada? If so, did your debit card work down there?

Hello april bride,

 

I went to playa del carmen last year and I only took american $. Don't bring to much, because it's easy to paid whith credit card (mastercard worked). And if you like you can exchange american $ to peso directly from the hotel front desk or down tow, but you don't really need to do it.

We will be travelling to GSP in October 2011.  Here is what my travel agent said about currency:

 

The Mexican Government recently passed a law that went into effect across the country on September 14, 2010. The objective of this legislation is to limit and control the movement of USD CASH within Mexico. Travelers need to be advised that USD CASH will no longer be widely accepted everywhere in Mexico As of September 14, 2010, here are the more noticeable restrictions to the use of USD CASH to make purchases in Mexico:

 

1. Hotels and money exchange booths will only be able to change a maximum of $1,500 USD CASH per person per month into Mexican Pesos. Previously there was no limit.

 

2. Businesses (including Amstar DMC in Mexico) will only be able to accept a maximum of $100 USD CASH per transaction – but the number of transactions per customer is not restricted.

 

3. Certain businesses may not be able, or may choose not to, accept USD CASH for any purchases at all. (This could include shops, restaurants, etc.)

 

For example, if a customer wants to purchase a local tour worth $139 USD per person, he will only be able to pay $100 USD in USD CASH and the remainder will need to be paid in another form (i.e. credit card, Mexican Pesos or Travelers’ Checks).Other payment methods such as credit cards of all types, travelers’ checks, Mexican Pesos, and non-US foreign currencies in cash (i.e. Euros, Canadian Dollars, etc.) are not affected by this new law. (*Note: I was in Mexico in December of 2010, and all cab/bus drivers, food servers, maids, etc accepted USD. But you may want to go to your local bank to order Pesos, or a local Money Exchange.
