Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

I got the following email response from Alejandra, my new wedding coordinator at the Sunset:

"Regarding the unfortunate accident, I am happy to inform you on Monday, November 29 in the afternoon was signed together with the competent authorities certifying that the record after several days of complete and exhaustive review and verification of facilities, all hotel areas are safe, and there was nothing wrong with them. "

Out of about 30 people, 4 have cancelled, but everyone else seems fine to be going to the GSP for our February wedding...

VERY happy to be heading towards sunshine!!

As far as I know the entire resort including both Sunset and Riviera and all amenities and restaurants have been open in full for a while now.  I'm leaving on Dec. 15th and returning on the 20th and will post here how I found the resort and service, and will answer all questions.

Gujarwala, enjoy your wedding. You must be thrilled to be leaving shortly. Cant not wait to hear all about it when you return home.

AlbertaCarrie - Im going to GSP in February too... when are you going to be there? When is the wedding date? I'll be there from the 10th - 17th and the wedding is on Monday. Maybe we can join forces and take over the resort.. lol

Where is everyone getting hitched? Did you chose the beach cermony? or the gazebo? I think we're doing the gazebo....

Also, my fiance and I are debating where to have our reception.... we have 40ppl coming and not wanting to spend the extra for a beach reception; however I would LOVE TOO! But going to an all-inclusive, its kinda of silly to pay 'extra'... mine as well get married here in town.

any suggestions??

Hello Ladies,

Well, I have decided I am staying with GRP and started finalizing my choices.

We will have ceremony in the gazebo and semi-private reception at the Thai Beach Club. Our party is small, only 10 guests, so it suits us perfectly.

After all the stress,I am glad I have made my decision and I am starting to look forward to January 19th. We will get married legally in Canada in next few weeks.

I would love to read some reviews of the weddings that took place recently.

Mara, the wedding coordinator has been really helpfull and is answering all the emails.

Does anyone have any info on the resort photographer?...sample of their work...

Thanks

Margret

We have just moved our May 7, 2011 wedding to the New Azul Fives. We booked all our rooms through destinationweddings.com, they are offering us the move with for additional money for our guest that have already made their deposits. This is an offer we couldn't refuse, we are getting a 5 star resort for 50% off. I believe that the GRP would have been all right to go by May, but with the option to move a step up we couldn't refuse and their private beach receptions are more than half as cheap. Good Luck to all the brides that will remain booked with GRP, im sure everything will be just fine, that is one beautiful place.

Thanks agirolamo!  Actually I made a typo, I won't be returning until Dec 25th so will post my review shortly afer that.

We are 38 people and booked the gazebo ceremony + private beach reception.  I agree the beach reception is pricey especially considering everyone is already paying all-inclusive fees as it is, but I didn't like the idea of the a-la-carte receptions only being 1.5 hrs with no speeches, line-ups for drinks with other resort guests, no slide-show, first dance, etc.  The other option is their Gala receptions (private receptions but indoor), but those can still be close in price to the beach reception depending on the menu you choose, and when you're in Mexico it just seems odd to have a reception indoors rather than on the beach.

I do have to admit, Im mad jealous that you are going to experience a private reception on the beach! I cant wait to check out your pics. I heard the a la carte restaurants only give you a 1.5 hr time frame.. which is not cool. Especially if there is no mic for my MC, or toasts made, NOR a first dance....

What is their other option (Gala?) Reception?? We get married at 1pm (because the 3pm was already taken) so there is a HUGE gap from Ceremony to Reception... any suggestions on filling up the time in between..? (besides pictures..)

Hey Brides to Be!

Glad to hear that everything is up and running...I am to be married on April 21, 2011 however since Sandra has left, I have not heard back from a wedding coordinator.

I thought that the new wedding coordinator would be using Sandra's email...does anyone have an alternate address for the new coordinator and for anyone wedding in April 2011, have you received your contract yet?

Thanks for any feedback!  This has been such a helpful forum!!

I'm glad to hear that the resort is going to be ok!  I have been trying to get a hold of the new coordinator for weeks now to select our date.  She has gotten back to me finally, but now that date we originally wanted is taken!  We are now getting married on July 24, which is a sunday!  I was told that they do not hold ceremonies on Sundays; does anyone know if that is true?  Also, is anyone using destinationweddings.com as their travel agent...or does anyone know of any good travel agents that deal with this resort? Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
