I'm having the same problem as a few others here, I was in touch with Sandra who was very prompt and helpful, was supposed to email her my final numbers after which she would send me a contract with all the terms for our ceremony and private beach reception but when I emailed her I didn't hear back...later I found out she's not there anymore but no on else has been emailing me and whenever I call they say they will get back to me "today" but they never do lol...getting a little worried because my wedding is next month.  Will keep you guys posted, hopefully they can get organized.

Going through the same thing.  Every day she is supposed to call but never does.  I am trying not to worry, and like other brides who have recently gotten married there since all the wedding coordinators quit have said, once you are there it all works out, they take care of you and make sure your wedding is perfect, just the way you want it.  Still - it is sooooo frustrating when all I want is a few questions answered!

I don't think you will have a problem, they are a little leanant by a day. They only ask you be there 4 days before so you can do the paper work and blood work. We arrive on the Wed on Dec 1st and getting married on the saturday the 4th as long as the judge says it ok you should no problems good luck!!

Thank you, I was a little worried but I know most resorts are only three days. I friend of mine got married at one of the Iberostar properties two years ago and he said it doesn't take anytime to fill out the paperwork and do the bloodwork, its just the processing time. Fingers crossed that they give me the thumbs up. I still haven't heard back from Mara regarding my wedding date though. I am fearful of it booking and I have already started to book guests, with myself included. I have noticed that calling them sometimes speeds up the process but I can imagine they are VERY busy with brides all the time.

Another question ... does anyone have any information on the AC indoor reception gala's?? I was thinking this maybe an option as I don't want to pay the outrageous price to have the reception at the Thai Beach Club and I am fearful of the weather to do the beach reception. I am trying to track down pictures and prices for the gala reception.

I love this website!!!!! So helpful.

When is your wedding?  If it was just a few questions I was waiting on I probably wouldn't be frustrated either, but mine is coming up and its almost 30 days away...they said final payment is due 30 days prior to the wedding but you can't make your payment without the agreement...and the agreement contains the terms and the total...so they haven't even told me what my total is yet...and when they do I might have questions or may disagree with something in the contract...if payment isn't really due 30 days prior then I wouldnt be concerned, so I wonder if they strictly enforce that payment due date when they send the agreement just a day or two before the due date (right now they are quoting me they will email it 4 days before payment due date and based on their past history of not meeting their deadlines I imagine it will be even later lol)

We leave for our wedding at the GRP on Nov.28 and I still haven't paid my final amount. I phoned and asked the new coordinator about that, and not having paid the final amount the 30 days ahead and she said it was fine. Sounds like she's overwhelmed, which stresses me out but I'm trying not to worry about it.

And - has anyone seen the news this morning? There was an explosion at the GRP this morning. Natural gas explosion in the kitchen or boiler room or something - near one of the restaurants. Conflicting reports about the number of dead/injured. I've seen 1 confirmed dead, and as many as 7 confirmed dead. Holy hell. Not sure what to think right now.

Yes! The news is crazy. From what I've read it was an accident- out of the control of the hotel, but we'll see... I hope my guests don't back out now! I am getting married there in march. Please share your experience when you return. I too have been trying to contact someone in the wedding Dept for weeks now with no response. Just hope they are still sorting things out. I am trying not to worry

We are getting married December 16, arriving December 12 :)

My TA said not to worry about the 30 day final payment being due since they are still getting back to me about our reception.  I told them I wanted the semi private Thai Beach Club option, and they said they didn't offer that anymore.  I told them I knew a bride who got that reception in April and I would like it as well.  So she is checking with her manager and getting back to me.

I am so saddened to hear what took place today.  Some of our guests have been calling, a bit worried.  I'm reasuring them our safety won't be an issue.  This was an isolated incident, and it was a natural gas explosion from what I've heard.  It could happen anywhere.  It won't affect our wedding in the least.  The resort is so big, and the area where it took place was the platinum lounge.  My dad is the only guest who booked there, so he'll probably just get upgraded to a Villa suite, or moved to the Sunset platinum side.  It really makes you realize how fragile life really is, seeing a tragedy like this take place.  The family and friends of those who lost loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers.  We are so lucky to not have been there today.

I have heard the news all over the Internet today about the gas explosion, and it is so sad. Among the dead is a groom on a trip with his family from Edmonton. To think we are all in the brides shoes not to long ago happy and excited for the big day of the wedding. It makes me so sad. I feel so bad for the family and everyone involved. My wedding is suppose to be on December 4th, not sure what is happening now, but i send my prayers and thoughts are with the families.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
