I agree with Tammy, that people tend to exaggerate the situation sometimes. I have been living in Cabo for over 10 years and neither me or my family ever heard of a situation like this. It's just basic common sense. If you don't want trouble, don't look for trouble. Don't drink till you pass out in a Club and you'll be fine.

And the kidnapping you guys hear on TV is in Mexico city, and to victims are usually big company's owners or their families that can pay millionaire ransoms, never tourists, trust me on that one.

This seems a little bizarre to me. I have to agree with Tammy & Floreria Rayen on this! You're not in your own country..don't drink until you blackout and don't go looking for trouble! I have been to Mexico for many, many years...stories like this will not deter me from going. Trouble happens ANYWHERE.

I have to agree with Dino here, it sounds a lot more like a brawl than something else... There's danger all over the world, and I don't think that people should make a decision based on hear-says... Also, there was no hurricane, it was some rain and wind... Belive me, when we get hit by a Hurricane, we'll know it...

So two groomsman were drugged with Rohypnol and cocaine at Squid Roe... outside two guys tried to pull them into a van... the groom and his SISTER fought them off the groom getting a black mark near his eye and his sister bad ass that she is for a school teacher beating her knuckles raw on one of the kidnappers face.

One of the kidnappers and both drugged groomsman were arrested... none of the police spoke english well enough for them to explain one of the guys kind of nerdy only had one drink... Ugh... he also was hit the worst by the drugs and was really out of it in jail... they had bodily waste thrown on them in jail repeatedly and that guy... also named Brian got it in the mouth and eyes... the grooms mom later took him to the hospital where he was tested for Hep C and HIV though I doubt he'll get either... I told him to be tested for parasites when he got back to the states...

scarey scarey stuff... watch your drinks. not that race matters but both kidnappers were gringos. We have no idea if it was for ransom or ? who knows but anyway you look at it... it wouldn't have been good.

OMG that is crazy me and my fiance go to Squid Roe everytime we go to Cabo and are even reserving some tables for our after party there following the welcome dinner. YIKES! This is nothing new though you always have to be careful with your surroundings especially at bars whether you are in the US or not.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
