Ayla,

I was wondering the same thing about a private reception. So far Rocio seemed adament about needing 40 people. We only have 25 to 30 and are told we have to have it in one of the restaurants: Mexican (adelita), Mediterranean (Mare Nostrum) or Italian ( Portofino ). I'd think if we were willing to pay then they'd let us...perhaps not. There is a nice terrace off the Italian restaurant that seems like it could give more privacy than being "roped off" inside the other restaurants.

Also we only get to choose 1 meal for everyone...I sure hope all 30 people have the same tastes...seems silly we can order normally from the menu...what happens if we just all showed up as if it were any other night to one of the restaurants, we'd be able to order anything right?

Also it's becoming aggrivating not hearing back from the resort in a more timely manner. We've got just over a month to go and it takes a week to hear back from them sad.gif

FutureMrs.D- My TA was told that as of last Thursday (she was back and forth with Rocio throughout the day) there are no dates available for the month of April. That could have been just for the Thursdays and Fridays for the month of April, but that is what we need as our flights from Calgary depart on the Saturdays (with the 4 day rule for brides and grooms).

I am not sure what day you would need, as I am not sure when flights go out of New Brunswick. We have guests coming from Newfoundland, and I think their flights would arrive on the Monday- not sure if it the same everywhere in the east or not.

We are now holding out for a date in May instead.

To be continued...

Hi, CassBob09, I didn't meet with Rocio, and Erica didn't mention anything about a minimun number of people. It really sucks that we have to choose one menu! If you want to try to just show up at a restaurant make sure you make a reservation for a restaurant for your large group with guest services!!!! I'm not going to try that, I would hate to have anything go wrong on THE day!

On the other hand, I sent out my save the dates, mine alone are about 30, but i'm sure about 10 of those can't make it and surprisingly 2 people I expected to come might have become recession casualties :-[ I'm trying to get my fi to extend his list (currently - no joke - only 5 people) but he prefers a small wedding. I set up my wedding website (Welcome to Ayla and Oleg's Wedding page!) using Joomla and the RSVP portion using Fabrik (I'm a web developer - but this took almost no coding at all). The RSVP part is not published yet, going to wait until I send out the official invites - message in a bottle that I'm putting together to cut costs. And then I'll wait :) Oh and I need to find a dress! :)

Hi Everyone,

Sorry, but I kinda have to vent here. I have my wedding booked for Dec 22, 2009. 22 people booked so far. I've been in contact with Rocio a fair bit about things over email - I'm sure you all know how she is; sometimes she'll reply within an hour other times she'll take like a week. Well I've been trying to ask her about having the reception at La Laguna (I'm not sure if I even have enough people for this) and its like she ignores the emails pertaining to this topic!! I've got replies from her to emails I sent after the one asking about La Laguna. I don't want to be annoying and send the same email many times (which I already kind of did - over a period of over 2 weeks or so), but I don't know what else to do. Has anyone else had this kind of "selective responding" from her? any ideas on what to do?

Tamara

Tammikins- You are not alone! In regards to responses via e-mail, I am pretty sure that everyone experiences this (read back on this thread and you will feel very validated). One thing I do also know is that many people have this same type of response times from WC's everywhere- not just at the Palladium. One bride put it very well on one post- she said that everything will work out, you just have to be patient and realize that these WC's do this many times every day. My TA even had the same problems when we were trying to confirm a wedding date- the first time we tried, there were back and forth e-mails throughout the day on the same day the request was sent. When we had to change the month of my wedding and sent out another request, it took more than a week and several e-mails to get a response just to confirm a date so we can book our trip. I hope this makes you feel better?

As for finding the information you need- there is definitely answers to your question on this thread...somewhere. I would scroll through when you have time, and I am sure you will find the info you need from other brides.

Happy Planning!

Ya, Rocio is choppy in her responses.. but just know she is always super busy with brides that are coming in that week... so when your wedding gets closer, she is better about responding..

Here is what I got from her for our June 5, 2009 wedding:

"In regards to the number of guests for the private reception.. if the minimum

of people for a private event it`s 25 guests... but if the number is less than 25 people and you want still to go for the private reception I will need to charge for the 25 even the final head count it`s less than that."

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
