By the way, I am going to use a starfish as well for my rings. This is mine.

I have now to find a ribbon but I am still having doubts about the colour of it, any ideas of which would suit better?

Hi Carlota :)

I love the starfish! I would either use a ribbon the color of your dress, or the color of your bridesmaid dresses. Either would be very pretty! my e-mail address is chrestenau@yahoo.com.   The letter u at the end is not a mistake- that is my middle initial :) (lots of people ask if it's a typo). Please go ahead and send me whatever is necessary for me to join the group :)

You are more than welcome to upload our wedding video :) I am actually in the uploading a FB photo album this weekend of our wedding photos now that we got them back! (yeah!!). I will be glad to send the album your way as soon as I finish.

I am sorry to hear Thomas is not feeling well :(  Go take care of him, and dont you go getting sick either! You dont have very long until your big day!

XOXO

Oh, I almost forgot- regarding the note "were married:) And very happy!!" at the end of my posts...I think I did that on my edit profile page...I can't remember how, but there was a part where you could leave a signature, or a message. Go to the edit page of your profile--there should be something there that will allow you to leave a signature message.

Hi Chrestena,

Thanks for the tips! I have seen it just right now how to make a personal signature! thanks.

Take a look at the spam folder in case it has finished there, if not follow the link to enter at the group.

Thanks also for the ideas for the color of the ribbon. Unfortunately I will only have a made of honor, and not bridesmaids as any of my two sisters and friends want to dress the same. Here is not typical like in America, it was when my parents got married but not anymore. I tried to convince them but no way... But anyway I am happy with my maid of honor!! I am alredy have ordered her bouquet and her dress is about to come.

Good Sunday to everybody!

Hi Everyone,

And hi Chrestena it was sooo nice to hear from you again!!  I :)  It's crazy how you can meet people in this way and become friends and keep in touch.  Eight years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter I met some people in a support group on the internet who were also having children with her condition and 8 years later we're still friends.  Lol - I went to Texas to visit and they've even come to Canada but of course Facebook makes things very easy!

I love the idea of the starfish for the rings, girls.  I am still trying to figure out what to put in the little window of the box I've made, and how to make the paint look kind of distressed.  The sandpaper didn't work well, so I'm waiting for my crafty friend to get home from camping for the long weekend to bounce some more ideas off of her.  It took enough for me to look into how to do that signature thing you were talking about but I figured it out.  :)

I'm going to ask Vanessa about the rain thing for you, Carlota.  I'm really trying not to think about it haha!  It's such a beautiful day here outside I'm heading back out to sit on the deck even though I really should use this down time to start thinking about my seating plan and so many other last minute things I need to think about.  I hope you're all enjoying the weekend!

MJones, we are flying out of Winnipeg and had gotten a group rate of $1832.00 per person taxes included .. it was a bit more than what I wanted them to spend but since we are going during a 'busy season' (over New years) I knew the prices would be a bit more expensive. I was getting a bit frustrated because I kept trying to get the people who were wanting to come to put their deposit down as soon as possible to secure that price, and they kept saying they were gonna wait and hope that the prices would drop. The prices are now at $2200.00 per person and they're complaining that its too expensive now for them! Oh well, I tried to tell them so there's not much I can do.
A couple days ago a 'countdown' popped up on my phone saying that we had 6 months exactly until we leave for Mexico.. so exciting! I am having a girls weekend with my bridesmaids at the end of July and I'm hoping we can get lots of wedding stuff done because this summer has been super busy so far. Oh and also yesterday we FINALLY got to take our engagement photos .. they had been postponed about 4 times due to all the rain so I was quite happy that the weather finally cooperated for us and now I'm getting anxious wanting to see how they turned out!
I do have a question I don't know if any of you can answer .. if we are going with a Karen Bussen package, are we able to bring our own flowers (I was thinking of getting the silk bouquets you can get made on Etsy .. this way I can get exactly what I want and then can keep them after)?? I know the brides bouquet is included in the package and we must use it but I'm wondering if I could just put it on a table or something instead?? I might need to ask Vanessa about this.

Bre, I'm not sure the answer about the Karen Bussen packages - I did hear that there are no substitutions but I don't see why they wouldn't allow you to bring your own and then use the included ones for another purpose or just not at all if you're still paying for it.  Is your wedding coordinator Vanessa?  They're all pretty good at getting right back to you within a day or two so I'd just send a quick email so then you know.  They never seem to be annoyed which is awesome.  :)  You could even use the included bouquet for your toss if you wanted to and like you said I'm sure you could use it for table decor too.

Bummer about the price going up so much but yeah, New Year's is an expensive time for sure (but also an amazing time for a wedding!!  What a party!)  The airliner in me knows that prices - especially that time of  year - will absolutely not drop unfortunately.  Here's hoping the rest get on booking before it goes up even more.

Happy Canada Day, Canadian girls!!

Hi Bre,

I completely understand about the flights, those of us who travel for the holidays know that the prices go up the closer you get, not lower. I live in Peace Alberta, and usually fly home to visit my family at Christmas and normally buy my tickets during the summer. Thats the whole reason my fiance and I are planning a destination wedding.... one side has to fly anyways.... so why not have everyone fly some place hot and beautiful. I will be the first destination wedding for my family next year so I can just hear all the questions coming my way, lol.

Anyways about the bouquet that comes with the Karen package, I am planning to use the Pearl package, and use the bouquet that comes as the toss bouquet. I have actually chosen to use fans for myself, the maid and matron of honour, as well as our mothers. I might use the bouquet in a couple of the bridal pictures, but figured why not give it to a guest during the bouquet toss at the reception. If that is not an option with the resort than who knows....

Hi Carlota,

I would love to know what you decide on the wine when you finally decide. My background is Portuguese so my family is only so-so wine drinkers, and my fiances family are not at all. The last time I was in Mexico I did not find the wine too bad, but it was a different resort, so more than likely it was a different wine. I will more than likely still go with the house wine, I really do not like the idea of spending so much more on alcohol and beverages when we are going to an all-inclusive, but I guess that is every DW brides complaint about the additional cost of food and alcohol.

Happy Canada Day to you too Bre!

Liana

Hi Bre,

I have no the confirmation either but Jen that is about to get married maybe could clarify something as she finally decided to change her former wedding package to one of the Karen's one.

I think Jen told something that she is bringing things with her... For other hand, some months ago Vanessa emailed me to explain me the new wedding packages and the possibility to change to one of them if I would like to do it. But she told me that for example the flower arragements that I had for the columns of the beach gazebo I could not use them.... so I do not really understand how  the new packages are.

It seems to me like you cannot change the flower arragments and the wedding ceremony place (pergola, gazebo, church, etc) but you can add whatever you want like more centerpieces at the tables reception and more bouquets, etc but no sure about this...

Thanks for your comments Lauren, yes I think as well that is crazy how sometimes people can meet and connect! This is great!! And Facebook is a very good tool. It permits me to be in touch in an easier way with the friends that I met when I lived in Ireland, Italy and Madrid.

Today has been a crazy day. Thomas is still sick.... We went to emergency two days ago as he was feeling really bad. And this did scare me more because he never gets sick. He was having very high temperature, cough, cold and hot at the same time. We were thinking he had a strong flu. But doctor at the hospital took a look at him and said he had a big infection of pus in one tonsil. The doctor said he did not understand the cough with the rest of the symptom and gave him antibiotic, paracetamol and a syrup.

After 2 days without improving we have gone to the doctor's office today (the one that we alredy know, not the emergency one) and she changed the medicines for stronger ones. If he does not feel better tomorrow afternoon, we will return again. She said he has a big infection also at the throat and that the medicines the emergency doctor gave him on Saturday shoud have worked yet and make disappear the fever.

He is very weak, all the time lied at bed or sofa and I even had to help him to walk today to enter at the clinic... Now we are sitted at the bed, he is next to me sleeping and I have to "force" him to eat sth because he is not hungry... This is the biggest symptom to me!! Doctor said at least to eat yogurts and ice cream.

He sleeps the most of the time, probably because the meds are strong.

Our dog is all the time next to him, it is incredible how dogs feel someone is ill and they do not go apart from you because they feel you are sick.

¡Saludos a todas!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
