yep, transat now does all of the sections except riviera. Sunwing does riviera and they're fairly inexpensive too. According to my TA, sites like expedia do something about "back rooms" which basically means that if the resort is overbooked then you get sent to a comparable resort. Usually not a big deal, but if you are there for a wedding it becomes a problem. So, it is better to go direcly through the travel operator, either with a TA or on your own. Honestly tho, I would recommend going through a travel agent. My TA coordinated everything for me, moved some of us to white sands (technically a higher price category) for free, got my fiance and I 1st class on our flights when we paid for the regular flights, and is supposedly getting us an upgrade at the resort. So lots of perks with using a TA. Meg, if you want, send me a PM and I'll let you know the name of my TA since you're in Vancouver you might want to go thru her.

Also, in answer to your question, my TA told me that she can arrange for all of us to be close together (can't all be in the same building because we have about half in colonial and half in white sands), or if we want, we can have some "distance" from the rest of our guests. lol I guess it would be weird being next door to your in-laws on your wedding night. when I went to the palladium last year with my parents, I shared a room with them and there was a couple next door that was, uh, very vocal so I was medicating myself with benadryl so I would be able to sleep through that lol. It was awkward. lol I'm rambling cuz I have too much to do. :P

Oh, awkward! That story makes me very glad we have arrranged for some distance from the rest of our group! We are staying in a Mayan Suite, and from what I can remember those are all closer to the beach area and the rest of our group will be in junior suites and regular rooms in the Colonial section.

Tammikins... get off the forum and get going on your stuff! haha. Serioulsy though, keep us updated on your progress. I am so excited for you!

No! i'm comfy here lol. I'm trying to figure out room requests because I guess those have to get mailed in the next few days. I love the Palladium Addict site because they have so much info including descriptions of specific rooms. Does anyone know how the photographers know where to find you? Last time I talked to the photog she just told me she'll meet me in my room. I guess they just ask at the lobby?

I was wondering the same thing with the photographer. I am assuming they won't have a problem giving out the room numbers to the wedding photogs. We won't be staying together though, so I might just let front desk know where we are (FI will most likely be kicked out of our fancy room for the night before and day of).

What photgrapher are you using?

hey thats really nice of you. I'm letting my Finance have the room for the night and going to bunk with the BMs on the condition that he is out by 8 am and doesn't come back :P. I'm going with Claudia Rodriguez for photos. I keep flip-flopping about the package i want but i think i settled for the 5 hour package. That will take me from 30 minutes before the ceremony up until 1 hour into the reception. She said because the package is 5 hours or more then I either have to pay for their entry into the resort or provide them with dinner. I'm paying for their dinner, but i wonder if that means they stay later because they will be eating on "our time". Any thoughts?

I would think that if they are sitting down for dinner or taking a break, that time would not be used in your 5 hours. I don't know though. It's not like they would be rushing to another wedding either, so I am sure they aren't going to punch a clock down to the minute.

I love Claudia's photos!

We are using Moments the Matter, and are doing an 8 hour package as our ceremony is so early (2pm) and I also wanted before pictures. We were hoping for a later ceremony time to avoid so much time before the reception, but to no avail. I mean, what could we possible do for FIVE HOURS!! (wink wink). Well, I guess closer to four hours.

What are your times like for everything?

I used Erick from Claudia Rodriguez photography and my pictures are AMAZING! I also did the 5 hour package and provided Erick and his assistant with dinner, as well as Jerry the videographer from Cancun Wedding Video (Claudia's husband's company). They were able to capture the first dance, cake cutting, and speeches, as well as some of the partying at the reception. They both ended up staying longer than their allotted time, so we were sure to tip them. Here is the link to my pictures (be patient the page takes a minute to load):

Thanks Tammi! When we met w/Erika on our first day she called the photographer for us so we arranged the time/location then. Claudia also called my room at like midnight the night before the wedding (I think she had been trying to reach me all night but we were at our cocktail party) to ask me a couple of questions so we got everything squared away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
