Hi ladies! I am new to this forum... and am happy to report that we just set our wedding date (July 25, 2010) at the Palladium. We are SO excited :)

I have a quick question: Does anyone know what the cost jumps to if we have over 40 guests at the reception? I think we are going to have between 50 and 60 people (who will probably all be staying at the resort). We do not necessarily need a private reception...and I really do not want to have to pay the $50-$60/person for a private reception.

Hi Sarah,

Congrats on setting the date. I've been to the Palladium 4 times and am having my wedding there now - wouldn't have it any other way! Unfortunately if you have a group of over 40 people you need to do the private reception because there aren't really any other spaces to hold a group that large. So how much your reception costs ends up depending on what meal you choose for the recpetion (not sure what its like for 2010) but for 2009 I think its between 55 and 65 per person, and then there's the $20 per person you need to pay for the ceremony too, so it does get more expensive then it first seems.

Hi Christina,

I'm not entirely sure, you might be right but based on what the package says, I'm pretty sure the buffet is only for smaller groups. This is a quote from the wedding pricing package Rocio sent me:

"These reservations do not apply for groups bigger than 40 people. Groups with more than 40 guests it will be necessary to hire dinner separately with different cost. "

Just out of curiosity, what is everyone doing for the recption?

Copied and pasted Rocio's e-mail about reception numbers. It looks like for numbers over 40ppl you can either have a private reception or have a spot at the buffet (not private, but better for the cost conscious bride!). For numbers over 40, you can't have a reservation at the a la carte.

Hope this helps everyone! Pretty sad that I had to go to work to get this, and I don't have any of this information at home on my free time...hmmmm e-mail monitoring anyone? hehe.

1)If your group it`s no bigger than 40 people and you have a limited budget and all your guests are staying at this hotel, you can take advantage of the all inclusive and we can help you to make a reservation in advance for one of our a la carte restaurants, just that you will need to be aware that it won`t be a private dinner (so there could be other guests having dinner at the same time as you in the same restaurant); a set menu will be required (this mean that the entire group will be having exactly the same courses) and the service will be for 2 hours. (there is a dresscode for men at the ala carte restaurants which is to wear long pants).

2)If the group it`s bigger than 40 people and you have a limited budget.. then the only option for a group dinner will be to block off some tables for you at one of our regular buffet restaurants (not private dinner).

3)We have available also the option of a private dinner but for this one there is an additional cost on top of the wedding package price, as well as on top of the 20 usd extra fee per person (since the wedding packages include only the service for 8 `people). If you want a privat dinner the cost for this will be based on the menu you choose (we have different menus and these have different prices), and the minimum number of people we require for a private reception it`s 25 guests. I am enclosing to this message the Gala Menus so you can take a look of them and give you a better idea of what I am talking about.. Please notice that the private dinner it`s upon availability since we have specific areas where we can have this event done and we use these areas also for other functions.

I hope this information is helpful and for any other question you may have, please feel free to contact me again.

So excited for you! Only two months to go!

As we are on reception talk, I was wondering what you decided to do, and how many guests you have?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
