They actually don't charge a room rental fee. The $45-55 for private reception covers the food and rental.

Also, don't forget to budget in the extra $20 pp for the ceremony over 8ppl. That adds up too.

We are having our reception at La Laguna and selecting the $45pp menu.

Also, I saw a post re music. Rocio said a CD player will be set up for the ceremony. At the private reception, we will have cd player and speakers. She said we can also hook an ipod up to the speakers, but recommended bringing the music on CD as a backup. We are going to do this and save our $ rather than hiring DJ or band. We will just go to the Disco at 11pm once the reception is over.

So which ceremony are most of you doing- civil or symbolic? I was going to do the civil ceremony (my mother threw a fit), but that adds an extra, no joke, $800 to the cost of the wedding, and I'm trying to find a way around it. For any of you doing the symbolic ceremony, do you get to personalize the ceremony, or do they put you in contact with the non-denominational minister at all beforehand? Thanks ladies!

Hello Ladies!

It's been awhile since I've been on BDW.

I am a GP June 2009 Bride.

Our wedding date is June 12, 2009 and that's about as far in progress as I've gotten with this wedding planning.

Our date has been confirmed with Rocio. Early reception 2 pm (which I'm a little leary about), and that's about it.

I'm starting to panic, as I don't know what to do next to get the ball rolling.

I'm not sure what I should be emailing and asking of Rocio.

I estimate approximately 25-30 guests.

I have no idea what or where to have our reception......etc.

I'm not sure if my plans are going according to my timeline....6 months to go, no photographer booked....ahhh HELP!

I'm not good at this kind of stuff if you catch my drift

Any feedback would be great! I think I need to figure out what to email Rocio about next...

Thanks ladies,

Crys

Cheers!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello!

I have been in touch recently with Rioco and Erika. I have some information I could email you. I have no idea how to attached information on here. This site I find very slow at times too.

My fiance and I are getting married the week of November 14th to November 21st. Our wedding date is booked for Nov 19th at 4PM with a reception to start at 6 PM we have requested. We are not too sure what route we are going to do for our reception if we are going to go with an a la carte or private reception. I hear a lot bring CD's and do the 1st dance and some dancing at the private reception area (I think it is in the Laguna buffet area they give you private area - not 100%).

Erika has emailed me information on how to go about booking your reception and what options you have. I have posted below...

Regarding the wedding reception , the options we have for groups smaller than 40 people are as follow:

* have a reception in one of our a la carte restaurants italian , mexican, steakhouse, mediterranean (whithout extra cost and menus are enclosed )

* hold some tables for your group in one of our regular buffet restaurants (whithout extra cost )

* have a cocktail party with apetizers 14 usd per person in one of our bars or at the beach ( extra cost and menus are enclosed )FOR GROUPS BIGGER THAN 25 PEOPLE

* have a gala diner , which is kind of a private reception in one of our outdoor buffet restaurants , the cost of this event depend on the menu you choose for that night ( extra cost and menus are enclosed ).FOR GROUPS BIGGER THAN 25 PEOPLE

i hope you find this information helpful , if you may have any question please contact us again.

Happy Holidays !

Also, keep in mind too for your wedding package it only is included for 8 people. You have to pay additional $20.00 per person. I guess that is for the chair, cake and champagne. I think some other brides to be have tried to get Rioco to drop the cost but Rioco does not honor that.

As for photographers...I have not really looked into it yet and plan to over the Christmas holidays. I have been in touch with another bride and she has given me the following to check out:

Home Lidya Solemidt Photographer

Vanessa Vargas Photography

Claudia Rodriguez, Photographer, Cancun & Riviera Maya

Also, Wedding Photographer Mexico , Cancun , Playa Del Carmen , Mayan Riviera

This one is a Canadian Couple that moved to Mexico and started this buisness up.

Pricing for photographer I thought would be cheaper in Mexico but I guess due to all the destination weddings it is not.

Good Luck and I hope this helps.

I can't believe that we get married 1 MONTH from today!! and it's only 3 days until Christmas.

For those of you that have booked your reception restaurant, which did you chose and why? I need to get on that as Erika is asking me about it.

Also, how many hours before the ceremony should I book my hair appointment? I don't want to be stressed by leaving it too late in the day, but don't want to worry about ruining the hair style by going too early. What do you girls recommend? I want to book in advance to take advantage of the 5% discount.

Thanks!

Jen

We went with Portofino because it has a gorgeous balcony that we've basically reserved for our group, and on palladium addict they said they have some of the best food on a consistent basis. I was wanting to do Mexican, but apparently the Mexican restaurant is one of the restaurants that needs to be improved (which doesn't seem right).

As for hair, I think I'm going to make my appointment for 11 or noon for a 2pm wedding. We aren't going to see each other again after we wake up, so that should give me time to get the hair and make-up done. You'll have to let us know what you decide!

Thats crazy that you have only 1 month! How is the rest of your planning going??

Hi girls! I haven't been on here in a while!! Our wedding is one month from today!!! The day after Jenn's cheesy.gif

We picked La Adelita for our welcome dinner which we are having 2 days before the wedding, once everyone is there.

And we picked Mare Nostrum for our wedding reception dinner. I let FI pick these because he hasn't had much of a say so far. So, we looked at the menus on Palladium Addict and that's what he chose :)

My spa appointment is for 9:00am on my wedding day but I'm getting a package (which I think is good deal!). It includes a manicure, pedicure, makeup and hairstyle. I'll also be using the steam room and jacuzzi before any of that starts. So, I hope the timing works out ok.

I've had some problems with my wedding band. I special ordered it in white gold to match my e-ring. The original ring was yellow gold with a little bit of white gold. Well, it just came in after 5 and a half weeks (they said it would take 3 weeks) and it's the same as the original!!! So, they are now sending it out getting it rodium plated so it looks like white gold and have re-ordered the ring in white gold. I am a little panicky now cause they say the rodium plated one won't be in until January 1st!

Everything else is coming along. I just have a few things to finish up for the welcome book I'm making.

Ooh! I should get started on my welcome book soon. I'm currently in the process of finishing my invites up. Yesterday my dad and I sat down and got 23 of the 40 I need done, so it won't take too much longer on assembly. Then I just need to get everything packaged and mailed out.

That sucks about your ring! I hope it comes in in time for you!! Its ridiculous how they can make such mistakes when this is you WEDDING BAND we are talking about! *fingers crossed for you**

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
