We just have our date so far and the 2:00 time slot given to us. We haven't chose a packages or time for dinner or anything. But yes I guess that leaves time for photos without rushing and people can do their own thing for awhile. And yes I agree I would just have guests all meet up at one of the bars. I know it would be nic fohave a private area with cocktails but can't really justify paying when drinks are free at resort.

Not sure how it works, I asked for my date and time back in February. At that time, they said we can't confirm 100% since the 2014 calendar is not open yet. But we took a note of your date and will let you know when the calendar opens so we can take your down payment. They emailed me back in April to say there's already someone at 3 we can offer you 1 o'clock......Let me tell you I wasn't impress ! Why didn't they tell me that in February ??? Oh well...lots of frustration but I'll go with that...can't do much !

So the plan is to have the ceremony 1:00 to 1:30 then pictures from 1:30 to 3:30 and hang around till dinner which will be early I guess...and I'm having a cocktail after dinner that's why I didn't really want to have one before and after !! The thing is...people will be drunk before diner because there's so much time to kill !! I'm still not happy with my time, I don't understand why we can't do it later :(

Hello girls,

I am strongly considering having my July 2014 wedding at this resort.  I've heard many good reviews from people that have been to this resort in the past, including a friend who was married there back in 2009.  I've looked at the wedding packages that are available and I am leaning towards the Mayan Pearl package.  Although I love the look of the tulle and the pearls, I don't really care for having everything in all one colour.  Does anyone know if you can mix and match colours from the packages, or substitute different kinds of flowers?  If not, I'm thinking of just doing white, and then getting my flowers from an outside vendor to add a pop of colour.

I'm also curious about what the dinner options are like.  I've heard that you have to have a private reception, if you have more than 40 people.  I'm guessing we'll be closer to 50 guests, so we probably won't have a choice. Does anyone know if you can still have your dinner in one of the buffets, if you have over 40 guests?  It wouldn't be my first choice, but I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg to eat dinner at an all-inclusive resort.  It seems kind of silly to me.

Last question (for now), does anyone know much about the poolside reception (cocktails only) by the las rocas location?  I would love to do something like that, but I can't seem to find much information about it.  Also, if anyone has any pictures of a poolside reception in this location, I'd love to see them. :)

Hi "soon to be mrs w"! I am also doing the Mayan pearl package now and I have asked Vanessa lots and lots of questions about it. What she said was that you have to choose one of the colours listed and yes it does all have to be in that colour you choose (I chose white). You also have to "use" everything that is in this package- so the flowers you have to "use" but you can order extra bouquets in different colours and flowers (which is what I'm doing / giving the maid of honour my white lilies and ordering a coral bouquet of a different flower for myself (not sure what kind yet). There is however, one of the Karen bussen packages (I think it's the most expensive one) that allows you to mix and match ANY of the decoration/flowers and I think you can mix the colours too (but not 100% sure on that tho). You can also bring extra decor in your colours to add to the stuff already included in the package (ie we are having coral and turquoise maracas, sand ceremony in those colours, star fish for tables in white, fans in turquoise, name tags etc). But you can't take away items that are in the package (ie you must use the centre peices) But if you happen to be told different from what I was told can you please share that with me? :) it's best to get as much info from as many ppl as we can so we can take advantage of all that is offered to us :)! My wedding is in 7 weeks yay!

Hello Brownsugarbride !! I asked the same to my planner and she told me that the maximum is 2 weddings per day. But dont worry about that because Vanessa (WC) told me that although there are 2 brides gettin married the same day,you are not going to see the other wedding as times/locations are different

Hi, I haven't decided yet which colour to go for with the package.  I'm thinking either the pink one or the orange one.  As far as flowers go, I am finding the ones from their website quite expensive.  I have been looking around for outside vendors and or DIY projects to see if there are less expensive options/alternatives.  Have you decided what colour you will be going with?

I saw you said you are doing Mayan pearl! Me too!! What has been your experience with flower options for extra bouquets? What colour have you gone with for the package?

Hi, silly me (I'm new to this), I tried to reply but it went somewhere else....so you may see my response twice on this thread....I am leaning towards orange, but haven't yet decided.  Have you decided what colour option you will be going with?  As with the flowers, I am finding the options on the GP website quite expensive, so I am looking around for either DIY projects or for outside vendors that provide alternatives at a lower cost.  The mayan pearl package does include the brides bouquet, groom's boutanniere, and ceremony decorations, but I would really love to have my bridesmaid and grooms men have flowers and boutannieres as well.  Will you be decorating your reception as well (ie, centerpieces?)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
