OH - wine.. honestly it is REALLY hard to get any thing good in Mexico.  We like wine and we tried to get some out side our resort on our honeymoon from a wine store in Playa De Carma - $20 USD bottle which I know isn't super high but it was awful too. We have yet to find a good wine there and we have been 3 times now.  Good luck on the wine.. we did not have any for our reception because if was so bad.

Thanks for your opinion!!! Why the wine you did select was awful? Did you know the wine from before or you just chose one?

Because we are choosing wines we alredy know so for this reason I would like to know what do you refer.

Thanks a million once again!! Also for the app. But why you didnt take the cable ipod from the Palladium included on the wedding package?

Hi Carlota,

Im sorry but I don't remember the name of the wines we tried.. we tried a few.  I think as long as you go with one you know you should be ok.

As for the cable ipod, I think you are referring to their sound system.. we did use the Pallidium system but my own Ipod/Iphone.  Because I had the DJWedding app and had alll my music set up for the entire wedding, ceremony and reception is was super easy to use.

The sounds system for the wedding and the reception were really good, for the reception it was actually too loud at one point and we had to turn it down until the dancing.

the DJ Wedding app - I had 4 songs for Pre Ceremony that just looped over and over, then I had a song for the Groom, Wedding party procession, my procession.  Registry signing - 2 sondgs and then a song for after the ceremony.

For the Reception, It has lots of options but I just did the first dance and father/daughter dance and then went into the Party playlist.

It fades the songs so it sounded very perfessional if you decide not use a DJ.  Grace did not telll me there would be a DJ/Pallidium person for the ceremony so that was a little confusing but they used my Iphone and it all went off very well.

I was on a pretty tight budget so I could not afford to hire a DJ and just did my own music for everything. It was easier than I thought and now I have great play lists.

Hello Karen! Thanks once again for a detailed explanation. We will take the wine from a Cancun vendor so i am crossing the fingers! hahaha Thanks for the info about the music. We do not really want to pay a J if the sound system of the Palladium is good! Thanks once again! Heather, I have an outside vendor for the flowers. This is a flower shop in Playa del Carmen (Floreria Iris). I am not sure they talk English, but you could try it. The website is not very developed. I sent them all my ideas thourgh photos that I have and from Pinterest. I decided to take all my flowers with them because I am taking many arragments. I toke a lot of time writing mails to at least 20 flowershops from Cancun, Playa and even from Tulum. But the costs were the double and in some even three times more. I knew Iris because Vanessa talked me about them as they have been at the resort for other weddings. The bouquet is nornal that is expensive because it has two kinds of orchids that are more expensive than others orchids. With Iris costs 115 USD. The others flowershops asked me from 250 to 400 usd.... No way! ; )

Hi Karen :)

I had a question for you regarding the DJ App. I too, am not using an actual DJ, but bringing my iPod and iPhone for music for the reception. (We have the Spanish Trio playing for the ceremony, so we are all set with that part) But did you use the iPod or the iPhone? I have both, and am wondering what is easier to use. I am guessing the Wedding DJ App can only be used for the iPhone, and you said it fades in and out to sound more professional. I like that! Is it just a regular app you can download?

Thanks!

Wow Mikeycelle, you looked beautiful!! Loved the dress .. so glad everything worked out with the dress situation! Also thanks so much for the very detailed wedding info :) Glad to hear everything went well. I just have a question for any of you girls that have already had your wedding at the grand palladium .. I am trying to get the reception/beach bash info figured out .. the dinner we have booked at La Laguna at 7 PM; it was scheduled to be from 7-11 PM and then if we wanted the beach bash, the latest it can go til is midnight so at first they had said supper 7-11 then beach bash 11-12. Well I thought it was a bit rediculous to ship everyone over to the beach for one hour (if that .. by the time we actually get there) .. so I was thinking of just doing the dinner from 7-10 and then Vanessa said at around 9:40 we could start transporting people to the beach where we would be from 10 til midnight. I just want to make sure that gives us enough time to do everything we need to do at the restaurant such as speeches, first dances, slideshow ( i think our bridal party was wanting to do one if possible) .. and then we can save all the partying for at the beach if we need to but I don't want to be rushed! If anyone has any tips/info that would be great!

Thanks,

Bre

Bre...we are opting for a 3p ceremony, dinner at protofino at 530, then beach bash to start at 800 ish. We cant do a cocktail hour bc they cant start til after 7p. So...we are going to make free use of the beach bar by the gazebo. After the beach bash we can continue to party, or if anyone wants to cut out early they can.

Do you guys think that sounds ok?

Case

That sounds good too casey! You will be at the restaurant for about 2 and a half hours too then? I didn't know you could start the dinner earlier than 7? I think all the options vanessa emailed me were from 7-11.. maybe I should double check that though! haha

Mikeycelle, you looked absolutely stunning on your wedding day!  Thank you so much for your detailed review.  You ladies understand I'm sure how helpful these reviews have been lately.  :)  Sooo appreciated!  I am so happy to read that it sounds like everything went perfectly on your day.  I did have to laugh at your dress situation - like Chrestena said this is so something that would happen to me.  It's incredible how they came through for you at the resort.  I imagine you were beside yourself!  Your dress was so, so beautiful!

Thanks too for all of your little tips and tricks.  I was definitely going to put the tips into envelopes for everyone with names (yep, saw a cute idea and way to do that on Pinterest, haha!) but can I ask how you distributed these tips?  For Vanessa I was wondering if I should tip her at our meeting before hand just in case I don't see her on our wedding night?  I have also heard that the planners are not always there.  I think it's so amazing that she was there with you the whole time - even through the party crasher fiasco, haha!  I am not sure how to handle the tips for the waiters, etc.  Did you put someone in charge of handing out the money so that you would not have to be bothered while you were celebrating, or did you want to hand it to them directly to say thanks?  I'm not sure what would be best.

Chrestena I downloaded the Wedding DJ app for my iPhone as well.  It really is so easy to use.  It's free, it fades nicely as was mentioned.  Especially now that I hear how good their sound system is there and how well everything runs I wish we were just going with that.  Especially since I've already organized a lot of the songs that I want to hear, lol.  But Tyrel only had a few requests for the wedding to my 1000's of needs lol, so he wanted a DJ and we're getting one.  I'm sure your hair will turn out wonderfully - it really sounds like they're good at the salon although I am still paranoid too haha.  It's one of those things I guess we just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.  And the best will happen!

I want to say as well that the pictures of the flowers you girls have been displaying are so beautiful.  I've always thought that flowers weren't too important to me so I am just going with what the resort will do for us and I do hope that they will be ok!  I'm excited for the centrepieces that Vanessa said they could do.  Hopefully they look like the picture I've sent lol.

Well, thank you again, Mikeycelle for such a fantastic review and encouraging words.  Enjoy your new life as a WIFE!!  How exciting!  Chrestena I do hope you can make it back one more time just to know we're all wishing you the same happiness and peace on your day.  Fly safe and have a blast!

Lauren

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
