Thanks for all the kind words ladies...I am almost starting to feel bad about my review :(. But it was my experience and I want no bride to be as stressed as I was. It is a destination wedding and as a former planner things always do go wrong but I hope giving some insight into my mistakes and the wedding dept's mistakes you can all avoid my issues. For those starting to plan...we had 27 guests so we had our dinner al a carte( no cost ) lasts 2 hours then went for a cocktails only reception at la Laguna for 3 hours, I believe you can do up to 4. I paid 7 US dollars per person for that. There are new packages available that weren't when I was planning so some of it may have changed. We used my iPod for the ceremony music and it went great...it was loud enough I could hear it from way back where I started my walk. Looking forward to seeing other pics...oh and take recommendations from the ladies on here for your photographer. I took one from my wedding planner...he was awful...just saw my gallery and I am so unhappy. I had to tell him what pics to take...thank goodness for the incredible scenery...every pic still looks beautiful...not one close up of me and my husband or our kids. I told my husband I want to do a do over in 10 years...lol...maybe we'll get it right then :). But I am happy we're married and happy we took the kids away...they'll remember it fondly for years to come!!!!

Maybride thanks to you!! Please!! Do not feel bad with your review!! Just the opposite!! You have told which was your experience and I am sure all the brides here thank a million your experience.

Every review here is super very welcome, this helps to the future girls to take note for things that in other way maybe we would have thought about them. So please, please, please feel great because every aspect and ideas here are welcome.

I hope my future review could help to other brides as well.

By the other hand, I am sure your kids had a wonderful experience!! Yes indeed!  msnwink.gif

About the pics at least for the ones that you did show us these look great! As you have said, the scenary is beautiful!!

Thanks for the info you have just written here again. I was considering the option to have a DJ but we are alredy having a lot of extras and we prefer to do not pay a DJ if the sound with the Ipod is good. We are alredy paying a lot!! lol

Thomas and I were making counts before with the wine. We have found a supermarket in Cancun that delivers the bottles to the hotel. The manager sent me the list of all the bottles they have with the costs.

The cost is just the half from the bottles that Grand Palladium offers.

We are going to be 20 people, we want tp take bottles only for the dinner (nor the appetizers before the supper neither the cocktails after the dinner) we are planning to take 8 bottles of red wine (Spanish wine), 8 of white (France wine) and 8 of champagne (Moet & Chandon). This has a cost of 1025 USD... I think it is a lot of money!!

Any advices? What are you going to do with the wine? Which drinks are you going to give to your guests for the dinner?

To tell you a little story about "our" wine...

We have a lot of culture in Spain around the wine and we always have wines of quality in important days (events, weddings, etc)

I asked Vanessa about the name and denomination of origin (this is the exact area/state/region for the country which is the wine) and she told me the name... It is a Spanish wine... and a baaaaad one (ok it is included, what we could expect? lol)... This is the reason we are planning to take wines from outside. Taking the same bottles at the resort cost 2000 usd....

Thanks all in advance!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Carlota!!!  I haven't looked yet but I really appreciate you sending this!!!!  AND thank you for putting some translations!  :)  I wonder if the menu that Vanessa thought you chose was mine?  Lol, I'll be getting married right after you and she is my planner too.

MayBride thanks again for the detailed review.  It certainly gives me a lot of insight and tips for how to make the best of a situation where the 'laid back' casual feel is not exactly what I'm going for on my wedding day.  Also, thank you so much for the info on the decorations.  It's great to know that I can have the resorts provide those flower balls - I like them way better than the typical flower arrangements personally.  I think they are so clean and classy.  Thanks again.

Lauren,

Sorry to bother you .. wondering if you could possibly email me this Word document?? I'm not able to open up files yet on this website.. so if you could that would be awesome! No rush, I still have awhile before my wedding but just starting to get organized with papers & stuff.

Thanks,

Bre

Hi Everyone, I have so much to catch up on!  I'm just in San Francisco for work so I haven't been able to keep up for the last 5 days.  I will try to email you all the document that I made as well, using Carlota's as a guide (thank you soooo much, Carlota!)  It's not complete yet and I have not sent it to Vanessa yet - I will do that once I get home.  I will try to get that document emailed tonihgt after dinner because I am just leaving the room for dinner now and the wifi has been terrible at this hotel.  If I don't do it today I return to Canada on Tuesday and I will definitely send it then.  :)

Hi Carolta,

I used a free app on my iphone called Wedding DJ for everything and the sound was really good as Maybride said.

they did everything really well until my song and it went off at one point but they got it going again and it was fine.  LOL

OH - wine.. honestly it is REALLY hard to get any thing good in Mexico.  We like wine and we tried to get some out side our resort on our honeymoon from a wine store in Playa De Carma - $20 USD bottle which I know isn't super high but it was awful too. We have yet to find a good wine there and we have been 3 times now.  Good luck on the wine.. we did not have any for our reception because if was so bad.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
